Itinerary

  • Day 1Wellington, New ZealandEmbark ShipThursday, Dec 30, 20275 pm

Begin your adventure cruise in Wellington, New Zealand’s vibrant capital. A city where culture meets natural beauty and is nestled between a sparkling harbor and rolling green hills. It’s renowned for its lively arts scene, world-class dining and easy access to stunning outdoor adventures. Embarkation begins at 1 pm, all aboard is 3 pm and departure is 4 pm. The exact embarkation port location will be available approximately 60 days prior to sailing.

  • Day 2Ship CoveFriday, Dec 31, 2027

Moor in peaceful Marlborough Sounds. Visit Ship Cove, where Cook spent hundreds of days. Choose between walking along the Queen Charlotte Track or bird watching on predator-free Motuara Island.

  • Day 3Kaikoura, New ZealandSaturday, Jan 1, 2028

Today you will journey to whale-watching capital Kaikoura. Join a Kaikoura Whale Watching tour for the opportunity to see dolphins, seals, albatross, and the possible sperm or blue whales. Kaikoura sits in a spectacular location between the rugged Seaward Kaikoura Range and the Pacific Ocean. Seafood lovers will be pleased to know that the town’s Maori name means “to eat crayfish”.

  • Day 4Akaroa, New ZealandSunday, Jan 2, 2028

Discover the French-chartered town of Akaroa, nestled in an ancient volcanic crater. Today you will have the choice between two included tours: choose either a harbor cruise with the opportunity to view the rare Hectors dolphins, fur seals, and seabirds or choose the Pohatu 4WD Penguin Safari to visit White Flippered Penguin nesting sites. In the afternoon, there will be a short period of time to visit the township at your leisure before departing for Dunedin. If you choose to explore on your own, you may stroll the charming streets of Akaroa and visit the historical cottages, museums, galleries, and French-inspired cafes.

  • Day 5Dunedin, New ZealandMonday, Jan 3, 2028

Arrive in heritage-rich Dunedin. Guided tours highlight its Scottish and Maori past, botanical gardens, and steep streets. Today, you will have the choice between two included tours: an Otago Peninsula Tour to scenic beaches and wildlife sites or enjoy a City Tour of Dunedin with free time at the end. If you choose to explore on your own, the ship will be at the inner harbor port and city center, which is just a 15-minute walk from the ship. In your free time, explore Dunedin at your own leisure and pay a visit to the famous Speights Brewery, Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Settlers Museum, or New Zealand’s oldest botanical gardens.

  • Day 6Stewart Island & Ulva IslandTuesday, Jan 4, 2028

The Maori name for Stewart Island is Te Punga o Te Waka a Maui, which translates as “The Anchor Stone of Maui’s Canoe,” referencing the legend of how the North Island was fished from the sea by Maui, the great hero of Polynesian mythology. Today, the island is the southernmost Dark Sky Sanctuary in the world and over 85% of the island is designated as a National Park. Stewart Island has just 28 km of road, but 280 km of walking tracks, and is a haven for New Zealand’s iconic bird: the brown kiwi (Tokoeka), which outnumber humans on the island. Blue penguins and the rare, Yellow-eyed penguins waddle along the rocky shores. Walk predator-free Ulva island to possibly spot kiwis, saddlebacks and more, hike parts of the Rakiura Track, explore Oban’s arts and friendly charm. Today’s morning activity will include a guided birdwatching tour at Ulva Island. In the afternoon, choose to go on a guided walk with the expedition team, join the Xplorer for a visit to the old Norwegian Whaling Station, or use the free shuttle to visit the township of Oban.

  • Day 7Dusky SoundWednesday, Jan 5, 2028

No roads lead into Dusky and Doubtful Sound, so the area is only accessible by sea, making our ship the perfect vessel to explore the deep, glacially carved fjords of Fiordland National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a wild region famed for its rugged isolation, so what we will do very much depends on the weather. We may have a chance to take Xplorer cruises to see fur seals and marvel at the sheer granite walls soaring from the sea, or even go ashore at Astronomer’s point. Everything is subject to change, and we will truly be in ‘Expedition Mode.’ But rest assured, whether we go with Plan A or Plan "G", we will be immersed in awe at this world-renowned wilderness!

  • Day 8Fiordland: Dusky, Doubtful, & Thompson SoundsThursday, Jan 6, 2028

Drift into the serene wilderness of Dusky, Doubtful or Thompson Sounds, formed over eons by glaciers. Cruise past wildlife-rich islands, hike between coves, and plunge into glacial-clear waters, a pristine, meditative experience deep in Fiordland. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a wild region famed for its rugged isolation, so what we will do very much depends on the weather. Everything is subject to change, and today will be another Plan A or Plan "G" day of awe.

  • Day 9Milford SoundFriday, Jan 7, 2028

On our third day of exploring Fiordland National Park, we will learn why Milford Sound was described as the Eighth Wonder of the World by Rudyard Kipling. The weather conditions will continue to determine the order we visit each location and the time spent at each site as we cruise Stirling Falls, the Overhang, Harrison Cove (where glaciers used to enter the sound), and Bowen Falls. We will keep an eye out for wildlife and enjoy opportunities to photograph one of the greatest icons in New Zealand: Mitre Peak, which rises 1,682 meters straight up from the Sound!

  • Day 10Solander Islandat seaSaturday, Jan 8, 2028

Sail near the uninhabited Solander Islands, volcanic islets discovered by Cook and home to rare seabirds. Spott Buller’s albatross and diving petrels and learn about the island’s scientific and navigational history.

  • Day 11Bluff, New ZealandDisembarkSunday, Jan 9, 20288 am

Say farewell to your crew and your new Olivia friends after a remarkable voyage. We will disembark in Bluff and take included coach transfers to Queenstown, where commercial flights are widely available from the Queenstown International Airport (ZQN). The transfers will take you directly to your Queenstown hotels or the airport, depending on your travel plans.

*Itinerary is subject to change.

A slanted 2-pin adapter plug will work while onboard, however, with the 3rd pin missing, the item will not be grounded. A limited number of adapters are available onboard and we recommend you bring your own. Please check your equipment to be sure you bring what is necessary for your personal needs.

All gratuities are included. Tipping is not customary in Australia or New Zealand and is completely optional. Should you choose to recognize the service provided onboard, gratuities are payable to the Purser in cash for equal distribution to all crew.

The ship has state-of-the-art hardware connecting to Starlink and 4G networks, remote area connectivity is not completely reliable. We advise you download your favorite shows prior to embarkation. Internet access is best in public areas and is not guaranteed in staterooms due to the steel structure of the ship.

    Laundry Service

Limited laundering services are available onboard for an extra charge. Laundry bags and forms are stored in your wardrobe for collection by Cruise Attendants. Charges for this service will be posted to your onboard account. As this service is for laundering only, ironing services are not provided.
