The historic Gaslight Inn is lovely.  And owned by family.

The only thing I would add to what has already been said is that Seattle’s Pride weekend is the weekend before we leave.

We've never been to Seattle either, so we have decided to come in on Saturday early afternoon.  Booked a room at the Sheraton downtown on 6th...figured it was pretty central.  We're staying an extra night when we get back too...but staying at the Mediterranean Inn to try a different non-chain place.

Hi, last time we were in Seattle for a cruise, we kept busy for three days before we embarked. We easily could have stayed in Seattle for a month and not run out of things to do. We enjoyed the Chihuly museum and sculpture garden. If you haven't seen a lock system before, you should go to Ballard, just north of town to see the fish ladder and locks. Obviously, Pike Place Fish Market is a must see. We actually stayed at an Airbnb within a mile of the market, so we were able to walk there. We found that the airbnbs were better deals than the local hotels. Before you do a search for an Airbnb, pick a place you want to be close to/within walking distance of, and then read all of the reviews for each place. Previous reviewers will say if the house/apt is in a sketchy location. We stayed between Pike place and the space needle on 1st Ave....it's probably where we will stay again, since we always like to come to town a few days early.

I don’t have any advice about where to stay, but I will tell you about some wonderful things to do while in Seattle for a few days. I’m afraid they are “touristy”....but really good to see. Chihuly glass is spectacular. There is a tour of Underground Seattle that is really cool. Bill and Melinda Gates have a really interesting display (?), building (?)....not sure what to call it. The Pike Place Market is interesting...it’s worth a stroll through, if nothing else. You can take a ferry ride across to one of the islands. If you want to get off the beaten path, go to Vashon Island. There is a really cool place to stay on Vashon...the Betty McDonald Farm. She wrote the Egg and I. We stayed in the loft, which had an eagles nest right outside our deck!  We also took a small tour of Seattle via mini bus that was neat because you went all over and someone else was driving. Hope this helps you plan your trip!

Advice about BnB's or Hotels to stay at in Seattle?

Hi All - Sharon and I have never been to the northwest part of the country, so we plan to come a few days early to check out the area just for fun.  Anyone have any recommendations as to where to stay, or where NOT to stay?

And what are must see's?  (No-touristy is even better).

Thanks so much and have a great day.

 Cindy (and Sharon too)
