NAIROBI – PRE W/ TOUR OPTION 1

Welcome to Nairobi! The largest city between Cairo and Johannesburg, Nairobi is a modern, cosmopolitan capital. Located in the fertile highlands at about 5000 feet, it has a delightful climate with warm days and cool nights.

DAY 1 – THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14
You will be met at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to the Norfolk hotel. The night is yours to rest before your big day.
DAY 2 – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15
After a leisurely breakfast, depart for a morning excursion to the Elephant Orphanage, established by Dame Daphne Sheldrick. The orphanage is adjacent to her home on the edge of Nairobi National Park. Dame Sheldrick is the premier authority on the successful raising of milk-dependent infant elephant and rhino orphans, and their re-releasing into the wild. Our visit will coincide with the animals' 11:00 am feeding.
Return to the hotel midday. Lunch and dinner are on your own today. A fully staffed Hospitality Desk will be able to assist you with afternoon options.
This evening your fellow travelers will be arriving for the main safari program.

If you are arriving prior to 3pm on the day of arrival into Nairobi, and would like to have access to your room immediately, this option will guarantee your room will be ready prior to 3pm. Most flights into Nairobi arrive in the evening, but those of you with early arriving flights may wish to take advantage of this option. Please be aware that if you’re arriving prior to 3pm, your rooms will most likely not be available to occupy without this early arrival guarantee.

POST EXTENSION MOUNT KENYA SAFARI

It's time for a little “R & R” at one of the most luxurious and beautiful properties in Africa, the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club.

DAY 1 – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22
At the end of your safari and dinner, transfer back to the Norfolk Hotel for a good night’s sleep.
DAY 2 – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Mount Kenya Safari Club. Enjoy an “Equator” ceremony and lunch before a relaxing afternoon on the property. Before dinner, a private cocktail reception is awaiting you in the lovely Rose Garden. B-L-D
DAY 3 – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24
After breakfast, we depart for a tour of Ole Pejeta Ranch and Jane Goodall's Chimp Sanctuary. The afternoon is free to relax by the pool, enjoy the animal orphanage or get a massage. For dinner, you are treated to a “William Holden Banquet” on the River Liki. B-L-D
DAY 4 – MONDAY, OCTOBER 25
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast followed by a free morning. After lunch, we depart for a drive back to Nairobi, with a stop at a favorite shop for one last day of shopping. You can purchase large, carved wooden animals that can be shipped home, or gifts for yourself or friends. Enjoy the Kenyan countryside during our drive. Then have dinner at a local Nairobi restaurant, followed by a transfer to the Nairobi airport for your flight home. B-L-D
