This was absolutely our most favorite Olivia cruise.  Bora Bora - eat dinner at Bloody Mary's.  The ship had a tender to the dock...walk across the road.  Our favorite island was Moorea.  Papeete was eh.

We are signed up for the post-trip extender in Bora Bora.  That over-the-water bungalow is a bucket list item for sure.  We considered doing a pre-trip extender as well.  However, it seemed with the arrival times based on available flights out of LAX that we would basically miss the first day of the extender, so is it worth the money?  I'm worried though about how long it will take this old body to adjust to the time change and I want to be 100% ready when I board the cruise boat.  Good idea to book independently.

Agree...2 days in bora bora already and none in Papeete as part of cruise ...so we're thinking of staying a few extra days in papeete post cruise. Also booking independently is cheaper than with olivia- even taking into consideration taxi and bf included with Olivia's offer.

I am also interested in hearing everyone's thoughts.  I've never been on this trip before, but here are my thoughts:

Definitely doing the pre-trip 9-11 OCT over-water.  (Seriously.  OVER WATER.  What's not to like?  It's a once-in-a-lifetime event, just like the cruise.)  I always plan on being at the start point of a cruise two days in advance in case of baggage or flight mishaps.

For post-trip events, I don't know exactly what additional things will be available at Bora Bora (I suppose simply more water time), so unless something really big comes up, I'm considering myself priced out of that one.  I'll most likely do an extra day in Papeete because of outbound flights, though.  Need to get cracking on that...  And flying through Auckland is tricky, with that date line messing things up.

Hi ladies! Looking for some thoughts in the extender. We are not sure if we should take the post trip extender and go back to Bora Bora or if we should just hang out in Papeete for a few days after the cruise. We do spend about 2 days in Bora Bora on the cruise so we weren't sure if it would be better to explore somewhere else or if there was so much to do in Bora Bora that it was worth it to go back a few more days. Also noticed that the extender says 4 nights in Bora Bora and 1 night in Tahiti which would be a total of 5 nights. The dates 18 through 21 only reflect 4 nights total so I guess it is really 3 nights in Bora Bora then? Anyone that has gone on this trip before and has advice we are open to suggestions. Thanks!
