Extend your stay and explore the delights of Buenos Aires and Iguaçu Falls! We’ll begin our South American adventure by spending two nights in Buenos Aires, home to Evita and tango, and two nights in Iguaçu Falls, where we will stay inside the National Park at Hotel das Cataratas, located steps from the lower falls.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Iguaçu Falls is situated near the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay along the Iguaçu River. We will have the opportunity to visit both the Brazilian (Iguaçu) and Argentinian (Iguazú) sides of the falls by walking along paths that line the most spectacular sights of this area.

On the Argentinian side of the falls, we will walk extensively throughout, visiting the Superior Circuit, walking along the up-river cascades to the Inferior Circuit and back down-river to the falls. We’ll also ride on the Ecological Jungle Train that will take us to and from the most impressive observation point of the falls - Devil´s Throat. There will also be time to stop at the Visitors' Center.

During the half-day tour of Brazilian Iguaçu Falls, we will walk the path along the falls and onto the catwalk at the bottom of Devil’s Throat. We’ll be able to feel the mist from the falls because we will be so close!

Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, is situated on the western shore of the estuary of the Rio de la Plata, and is filled with parks, monuments, beautiful architecture, delicious food and wine and the romantic tango. Explore the wonders of this historical yet cosmopolitan mecca with a visit to the Recoleta. Walk through the mausoleums in the cemetery and catch a glimpse of Eva Peron’s mausoleum. Stroll through La Boca, the birthplace of tango, and a neighborhood that retains strong ties back to its roots in Genoa, Italy. Experience San Telmo, the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, and witness Plaza de Mayo, the scene of the May 25, 1810 revolution that led to the independence of Argentina.

We will tantalize your taste buds with dinner and a tango show at Rojo Tango, a Cabaret designed to bring back nostalgic times and the passion of tango. Tango is a partner dance that originated in the 1890’s along the Rio de la Plata, before spreading to the rest of the world. Spontaneous tango dancing can often be seen in parks and at open markets.

Before embarking on our cruise we will visit Teatro Colón, the main opera house in Buenos Aires and considered to be one of the five best concert venues in the world. Here we will have the pleasure of seeing a small lyric singers performance and tour. Then we are off to Puerto Madero for an amazing Italian meal before being whisked off to the ship for embarkation.

RIO DE JANEIRO POST-PACKAGE

Situated on Brazil’s east coast, Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil. Rio, nicknamed Cuidade Maravilhosa (Marvelous City), is famous for its awe-inspiring landscape, annual carnival celebration and laidback beach culture. It will be hosting the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. With stunning geography such as Sugar Loaf Mountain, Corcovado Peak and the hills of Tijuca, the Harbor of Rio earns its reputation as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Delight in the beauty of Rio as we visit some of the “must-see” areas, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, Cinelandia Square and Sugar Loaf, where you will take a tram ride to the top and take in magnificent views of the city and Corcovado Peak.
