Jill, one of the wonderful things about the original forum was the ability to very quickly start a thread on a topic that may have come to light based on a whim, a thought, a current event, etc. 

I'm curious if and how that might still be possible on this new site . . . especially since such a topic may or may not really warrant "group" status. 

One of the great things about the forum was the ability to post what was "on your mind" that particular day and generate some discussion for awhile. . . whether something whimsical and relatively shortlived or something that might create a series of posts into perpetuity.

That's a great idea BarbG. That way a bulk of the queries is removed from Olivia  & answers will probably be swifter. Olivia can then concentrate on the more technical, internal issues. I still think all of these postings re the Connect site problems/suggestions should be in one, very well identified location, on the Home page. Lots seem to be unable to get past the Home page.

I didn't think Jill meant this group to be Connect questions in her original post, but I could be wrong.

How about a "How Do I...." instructional type topic where people can post questions and others can provide quick instructions on how to post a picture, navigate around the site, etc?   What seems simple for some isn't always for everyone.   Topics could be broken into the 4 catagories, messages, profile, groups and members.  Maybe this already exists and I've just missed it?

Jill, why don't we establish a group "Places Previously Travelled"... PPT!  (I know there's a better way of expressing that but I seem to be verbally uninspired today!!)

People could then post their experiences of travel to many locations. It may be of assistance to Olivia for planning purposes & certainly to Olivia travellers for future vacation ideas. 

I wanted to also repeat that Connect really needs a Suggestion Group on the home page. Otherwise the posts are all over. Look at this, you asked a simple question & what you got was technical feedback re this site.

Here's a thought, why not establish a Connect Input/feedback Group where you currently show "Featured Groups" on the Home page? Leave it there until folks get familiar with using Connect.

Right now we have questions/answers etc all over the place. It must be frustrating for Olivia to keep up with them. It certainly is frustrating for we users.

Jill, how about one central location for submitting comments/suggestions for improving this site?

For example, I've been submitting suggestions but would also like to see if others are submitting the same ones (so that I won't have to duplicate).

One suggestion I thought of again today is that it would be nice when you click on GROUPS to see not the date when the group was created, but the date of the last post on the group.  As it is now, I believe you must actually open up that group site to see if there were any postings since you last looked at it.  And this is part of what gives people the impression that the new Connect site is more cumbersome and time-consuming than the old Forum where you could easily see if there were posts since you last checked in.
