Just started looking and it's a challenge finding affordable flights without 5 hour layovers.  Lost my patience last night will try again tomorrow.  Definitely will look into Delta - I just hate paying for bags.  Going to try to make Southwest work.

I'm sooooo glad I didn't use American Airlines as usual. Found great deal using Delta if anyone in VA and MD is looking for the best airfare go to Delta's web site vs. other second party sites as for the last month Delta has had the best price under $175 out of Raleigh NC and around $200 out of both DC and Baltimore..

If you're looking as far away as Raleigh...US Air leaves out of Charlotte
And Delta and jetBlue leaves out of Raleigh

Thank you Pokie-Linus,

Whenever I check all the airports from Baltimore down to Raleigh I keep forgetting about Richmond. I'll have to add that one to my list of alternate airports..

Maybe I should check out the price of Greyhound? Do they still exist?

I just don't understand that my roundtripairfare from the East Coast with two stops on the West Coast cost under $500 and a round trip ticket from SW VA to Florida cost over $500, it just doesn't make sense to meConfused

Going to Punta Cana Spirit Air quit service the day in and the day out. We had to go a day early & stay a day late. The good news is we had two extra days in paradise...the bad news is I won't fly them again.

I'm an airline brat - started flying when I was 6 months old - and I would NEVER fly Spirit. AirTran (AKA ValueJet) is okay; they are no better or worse so far after the Southwest acquisition and are definitely not as good as SWA yet. I would fly them if they were my only option or were significantly cheaper, but I would definitely fly in the night before just in case.

I've flown Air Tran before....never had a problem with them.  That was before Southwest and AirTran merged....so don't know what their track record is now.   That's my testimonial....oh wait, I remember one time flying out of Ft. Lauderdale, the flight was delayed....but not too long.  Big Smile
