Seems to me the resort staff were pretty easy to communicate with in English. I think many of them are bilingual.

Rule ot thumb for Mexico or travel in general!  For Mexico resort, all is good, water and food.  In town, still no problem as long as it is in a good spot.  Bottled water, well if buy  from a vendor, wipe off the bottle around the lid, for it may of been in ice water that is not safe for us.  For the most part, PV is very very modern, most speak English and it is easy to get around the town and it has always been a safe place for me to wonder around in by myself, just have to be aware and confident.

The big thing is to stay with what you usually eat, watch out for the black beans, they are a bit more potent then the American kind, lol.

Another note, when one flies, upon landing, take a lot of Acidulous to restore the natural bacteria that is destroyed upon flying.  It will make all the difference in the world.

I am sure there are other things, but it is getting late, so if you have a Q., let me know will find out for you!

Andreainpv: Thank you for the confirmation concerning the media reports. This has been a concern for us as we like to meet the locals and on our two prior trips have taken the excursions to town to support the economy and enjoy the stories of the locals.

I do have one question. I have heard there are several different dialects, I plan to Goggle a few words so that I can communicate with the hospitality staff. Are there other resources to help with this project (without walking around with a dictionary)? I do not want to offend the staff.

We are looking forward to meeting you all.

Hey Gals! Will definitely take you up on that birthday toast

The tap water is supposed to be potable in these resorts, and it´s certainly fine for teeth brushing and such, but we usually stick to bottled water, which there will be plenty of. The odds of getting sick from drinking mexican tap water are low, but why chance it on a vacay right?

Any other questions? As a reformed gringa im happy to help! haha.

I am sure the water here is fine - but if you are unsure - just drink the bottled water which if I remember right - they supplied us.

Hey girls!

We are Andrea (I turn 27 on the 1 of nov... you're all invited to my birthday party, hehe) and Jannethe (32) We've been together for 4 years and are very happy, but are ready for some craziness and r&r on our 1st olivia experience. We are mexican and actually live in Mexico City and we've been to Puerto Vallarta on a couple occasions each. Hope no one is, but if anyone is worried about the current social and political situation in Mexico, don't be, the violence is largely region specific and Jalisco state is nowhere near these areas. Also, try no to let the media mexico scare campaign get to you in general. I work for a tv station and know firsthand how the industry rates its priorities: "money, then politics, then (maybe) journalism".

Jannethe is a orthopaedic pediatric surgeon and is a little bit shy at first, but if there is a karaoke machine anywhere within a 5 mile radius, you will see her fun-loving, wanna be performer side come out. I work for a tv station and study acting on the side.

Aaanyway we wanted to introduce ourselves and let everyone know that we both speak english but it would also be great to meet some spanish spittin´girls :) Were convinced this is gonna be the trip of a lifetime for us and cannot wait for oct 27!
