The travel insurance does not cover "changing your mind" and just not wanting to go. It covers death of travelers and family members, sickness or injury which necessitate medical treatment per MD which prevents you from the trip, theft of passports, military duty, inclement wather causing complete cessation of carrier, terrorist incidents, among other "covered reasons" These are the most obvious. We purchased ours directly through Olivia, but the provideris Travelex. I'm sure you can look on line for a more comprehensive disclosures. The earlier you purchase, the cheaper (I think, but not entirely sure) We have purchased travelers insurance both privately and through Olivia, but we always do purchase it just to be safe in case an unforeseen event that is covered protects our investment. It generally must be purchasesed before you last payment. We just hook it onto our Olivia payment or pay it outright if purchasing it independently. On occasion Olivia will transfer a payment to another cruise, but will not refund the whole amount; some people will try to sell there cabin and then the purchaser will have to pay for a name change. You'd best talk to Olivia about that. Have fun in Punta Cana!! Hope this helps
