I was on those trips...we had some pretty good weather...and the ship's captain always kept us way ahead of the storms...there was no ship damage

Having traveled on many Olivia trips...we have been very fortunate to see the Olivia weather magic...Judy, Tisha & Jill can tell ya!

Even the locals have said they love when Olivia comes...because when she does...so does the sunshine!!

We always travel prepared...but so far...have only had to use our rain gear...on the last Alaska cruise...when people kept saying it was gonna rain!

This is great - It think whatever the weather, we will have a blast. On an Olivia in in the Carib. we hit a tropical storm that made us change course and eating plans. The ship had minor damage. We also hit a storm on the Mexican Rivera trip. We were all fine. When HAL puts out bowls of green apples and barf bags by the elevators you know it is rough seas. Since this is the inner passage and no hurricaines we will just have to anchor ourselves to a sweet women who has an umbrella!!!

Far be it from me to dismiss the power of positive thinking.

However, just checked the extended forecast for all the ports of call. Good rain gear in order. We truly don't mind the rain, but do want to be prepared.

As they call it in Hawaii; liquid sunshine!

Now if you really want to impress us, get it to snow while we are there! LOL.

well...so it goes...

Of the 6 times we have done the Alaska cruise with Olivia…we only had some rain on 2 of the trips…mostly just one day…and only a few sprinkles on maybe 2 other days.

The trip we had the most rain was the one where everyone starting worrying it was going to rain the whole cruise

So again…let's have sunny good weather thoughts and let that rain gear we pack…keep our cabins company while we are out on our excursions!

That is wonderful! I'd love to talk to you about how you did it. I know it gets to be more of a challenge the closer you get to your goal. I have lost about 110lbs from my highest weight. Much of that was 10 years ago. Life sometimes gets in the way, and I stopped losing weight, but managed to keep off what I had lost. But I still have more than 100 to go. I don't really worry about the total amount, and just enjoy where I am any given day. I do find there is an interesting correlation between weighing myself and my weight. The more I weigh myself, the less I seem to lose. Stepping on the scal infrequently seems to keep my from getting discouraged at fluctuations and I stay focused better. I am a food and wine writer, and have learned that I can have anything I want as long as it is in moderation. But moderation can be a tricky thing :-)  I ride my bike just about every day. Val and I are renting bikes in Vancouver and Juneau for sightseeing, so I will be active. I do plan to eat what I want on the cruise because I don't want to miss out on any part of the experience.

Colleen I love shopping those stores too!! We were in Goodwill one day I had gone in there to look for some old blankets to make dog beds out of for the shelter and I scanned through the coats. I found a London Fog trench coat that was on sale for $3.00!!! It was reversible and just amazing!! When my daughter was in HS she went in there to shop all the time! She said it was the IN place to get funky cool clothes at a fraction of the cost! I hear what you are saying about not wanting to spend a lot on clothes when you are at that "inbetween" weight!
My partner Deb and I have been on a weight loss journey for about a year and a half. We have both dropped 100lbs and feel a TON better!

We still have a ways to go.. I have more to loose than Deb does because I dont get the exercise that she does so she has dropped it faster. But about another 20lbs and I will be good to go. Its hard as hell though because I love to eat!! Some people are hooked on drugs, others alcohol, but my drug of choice is FOOD!!! So I have to be careful or it will all come back on.

We have already decided that on vacation we are NOT going to worry about what we eat. Its going to be a great time and I want to try new stuff and dont want to worry about it. We will get back on the healthy wagon when we get home! lol

44 DAYS CHICKIES!!! WOO HOO!!!

We could have done with that electric lemonade in the central American rain forest Malinda, l lost count of how many times we got soaked down to the knickers and then steamed dried in the heat. Bit by the Mozzies, covered in mud, and had to make our way down from those pyramids which were slippy and slimy in the rain. I don't remember not laughing though :0)

Thats great info, thanks. Will check out the Op shops in Seattle and Vancover, then can re donate in Portland  after the cruise before we head back down to the warm.

I love shopping at Goodwill and also the Army-Navy surplus stores. I've been losing weight, and it is perfect for buying the new sizes until I reach my goal without spending too much money. Val and I just got beautiful trench coats from the surplus store (mine is Air Force-just like my Dad, and Val's is Marine-she's a veteran). They have zip-out linings and were around $20.

It's freezing in South Australia at the moment so we are looking forward to some warm weather in San Francisco before we head north to Vancover.Have to pack for all seasons , layering is going to be the key!

Found out there are Charity Opportunity shops in Canada and the USA, if we need more warm clothes will just buy some and donate them back before we leave . Read about that tip in Lonely Planet and put it into practice when visiting the UK. Had a  loverly warm coat for the time I was in London then gave it to the Animal Welfare shop to re sell before I left, win win

We are really looking forward to the cooler weather. It's been extremely hot here this summer, so having some cooler temperatures is most welcome! Can't honestly say we're looking forward to rain, but if it does, it does.

Long ago learned to not even try to argue with Mother Nature.  ;)

And I love your outlook on life, Jackie...you'd be the one to collect the rain water, find some lemons, and some sugar and make lemonade for everyone!!!    I'd bring the vodka and make it electric lemonade!! Drinks   lol
