Lovely, isn't it. However, no one should expect to see this view unless they have a full day, good hiking boots and are very fit. In my hiking days I did this hike (Garibaldi Lake) several times, usually with overnight gear - until the 5 miles of switchbacks and further 3-5 miles of alpine traversing became too much carrying for me. I switched to day trips - from early morning until dusk. The trail head is near Whistler and the full 20+ mile circuit includes the Cinder Flats, the Black Tusk and Garibaldi Lake.
Scenery not quite as spectacular can be reached from Whistler/Blackcomb effortlessly via the PEAK Gondola - open daily in the summer 10am – 4:45pm until September 23 (weekends from then until October 8).
