This topic…about what can be brought on and what can't…comes up every cruise
In the past I and many others have called HAL and talked with Bob, Pete, Betty, Steve…and so on…
You can call twice a day get two different people and two completely different answers…
Some will say you can only bring on 2 bottles…some will say all you want…others will say it's an Olivia charter so what ever Olivia says…
All I know from our 20+ cruises is what I have personally done…and from what I've gotten from Olivia…and what I've been told from HAL
Here's what I've done each cruise…we pack our HAL allowed beverages in either a waterproof boater bag or a cardboard wine box (we do make a handle out of tape)…make sure it's well packed and our ID/stateroom # is on it…tip the porter and hand it off to him/her. The bag/box has always made it to the room with no problems.
We have glasses in our stateroom so we fill them and take them to dinner…to the show…to the casino…to the crows nest/disco. Only once did we have a sort of problem…we were opening a bottle of champagne at the piano bar…when someone rush over to try and charge us a corkage fee…we explained it was a gift from Judy/Olivia who chartered the ship and they said "oh ok…no problem". We have even had dinner multiple times with Judy and always bring along a special bottle of wine…they open it without a problem and no charge.
So…unless things change tomorrow or the day we board the ship…we will bring on our wine/champagne, water & soda…we will give them to the porter at the cruise port…we will fill our glasses and take them wherever we want…and we may just bring our champagne bottle from Olivia to the Mimosa party!!
Until then…cheers!!!
