Some friends in England, who just booked this trip, booked a really nice hotel on Hotwire.  They show a little map of where the hotels are located, but not the name until you book.  If it is in the section bordered by Howe Street, Coal Harbour, Stanley Park/Lost Lagoon and Pacific Street, you can't lose.  That is a very gay friendly part of town.

Hi Deb! Try the site www.airbnb.com as we booked a private room on the 27th floor downtown for less than $100. It's in a room of the condo of a young, professional, gay, Vancouver native who has 100% positive reviews as a host. The site is people renting out rooms or entire apts/homes to others. We heard about the site from another Olivia Cruiser and it will be the first time we stay somewhere through the site.

Hi Deb,  quite a few of us are staying at the YWCA , our group from Aust and many from the States. You can book private double rooms as well as dorms so don't be put off cos it's a hostel. We have stayed at YWCA and YHA hostels all over the World and they have never disapointed. Save money on accom so you can spend more on excusions . Proberbly be a pre cruise get together organised for Sat night so if you are at the YWCA you will be where the action is !

The YMCA is near Robson a block from the Sky train which gives easy access from the airport, and then  a quick 5 minutes ride to the port...great walking and 5 blocks away is Davie St the main "gay" street...great walking area and safe..

We got our tickets last minute, so the hotels recommended are booked (coming in Sat). Any suggestions?

Should we search closer to the port or by the airport?
