It's 7 am. here in Ontario and I've just seen an update on the raging fires.  They have reported that 32,000 people have been

evacuated and 200-300 homes have been burned with the worst devastation in Colorado Springs being in the NW area. The erratic

behavior of the winds are making it one of the most difficult fires in history to control.  It's was such a beautiful area.....so hard to imagine....

not to speak of the evacuations taking place disrupting so many people and families.  I`m on the phone to the Red Cross.

Thoughts with you.......stay safe

Yes, Tuesday night was devastating for Colorado Springs residents. The wind shifted and came shooting down the mountain at 65 mph engulfing homes in its wake. We watched it all unfold on live TV.  No number yet as to how many homes were destroyed as the fires there are still burning.  Incident Commander Ron is doing an amazing job.  He stated that he has never seen a fire act the way this one is as it continues to move in multiple directions making it even more difficult to fight.  Just had a report that there are fires now burning in another residential area, though this is unconfirmed.  This is not the only fire currently burning in our state.  We have fires in the north, south and west.  None yet east (knock on wood).  We pray for the safety of the residents of Colorado Springs, Poudre Valley, Durango, Boulder and all other fire areas, and the brave men and women who are responding.  I'm not advertising any particular program, but the Red Cross would be an obvious one for monetary donations if anyone is so inclined.

It is so scary. I spoke to my sister tonight. She has three preschool age kids and her husband is deployed. They are in Colorado Springs. She said she had a meltdown and had hoped the kids didn't see it. Apparently they did and told their dad when they were Skyping tonight. She said it was good she didn't do anything that she didn't want him to find out :-)  She got overwhelmed realizing how close things are to them.

The wind has shifted this evening and for the first time since the fire started last Saturday, multiple homes and businesses are ablaze. We are watching it as we speak. It's devastating and our hearts and prayers are for all the people involved, their families and friends, and the state of Colorado.

Thinking of all of you. I have family and friends in the area, including in Manitou Springs. It is hard to imagine the beautiful snow-covered place we spent the holidays is the site of the fires. We just had Debby come through here and drop lots of rain. I wish we could send some of our excess water to you to even things out. Fortunately we had no damage. My dock is underwater still, but it will be just fine, and all of us are safe.

We live in Rocky Ford but have property in Divide.  It's just awful this Waldo Fire ( and the other 7 in the state right now).  We hope if the culprit who set 20 fires in Woodland Park/Divide last week set this one, that the person is caught, prosecuted and stopped.  Are you near the Flying W area?  Have you been evacuated?  Our prayers are for you and all our friends in the path of this fire.  Zero percent contained and expecting high winds this afternoon.  Stay safe Joyce.  Our thoughts are with you. Diana
