Is there anything that we MUST try that's not touristy. Something that's really local, like best bakey in town, or some place I should check out that will make Anchorage stick with me, something for me to remember.

Hiya, Alaskafemme. Jen & Leanne here from Adelaide, Sth Australia. Thank you for offering to provide info on Alaska because we are very much wanting to extend our time over there and see more of Alaska.

Two questions if you could provide an opinion on each please. One: we are considering the "pre-vacation stretcher" to Alaska that includes Denali and thought about catching the train from Anchorage to Fairbanks to start the tour. Would you consider the itinerary of that tour to be a fair representation of what Alaska is about? For 2 Aussie girls, do you think that would show the best Alaska has to offer? Then two: my partner is a mad fisherwoman, and we would love to try that whilst in Alaska, and have heard the Kenai River is great for salmon fishing at that time of year. Is this correct or would you suggest elsewhere for early September? Thanks.
