Better get in quick too the bloke told me there wasn't many rooms on Olivia rates left. And he referred to me as Ma'am. Made me laugh.

Joyce...if your your reservation can be canceled...making a 2nd reservation with your AAA number...and if it's lower...book it at that rate and then cancel the old/higher/non-AAA rate Big Smile

We do that all the time!!!

Hi Joyce,

You may still be able to get the AAA discount. Your best bet may to call the hotel directly and just ask or, alternatively, you can just wait until you get there and show them your card... you may get lucky! Wink

I just booked a room at the host hotel, in case I do the vacation stretcher, which includes breakfast there, on the 16th.  Darn - I forgot to use a AAA discount.  I got the room for $199.

For anyone who is willing to take the risk, Priceline/Hotwire is going to be the way to go.  At that time in Vancouver at the end of cruise season, rooms are going to be "on sale".  For me, I've booked a room that I can cancel and then will look into the options in early September.  JMHO.  h

Yes I was talking about the Fairmont Waterfront that you reference.  It would be worth a call to them to see if you could get a group rate.  It is a beautiful property and right across the street from the cruise ship terminal.  Also it is connected to Waterfront Station which connects directly to the airport.  You can roll your luggage to the hotel and save the taxi fare.  The Skytrain fare on the weekend is $2.50.

Hope it works for you.

Not sure about host hotel, but we're arriving a few days early, staying at Westin Bay on the Harbor.  I'm told it's a short distance to the cruise ship area.  Anyone else headed to the Westin?

H.and.G.in.BC :)

I was wondering if you were talking about the Waterfront hotel at 900 Canada Place Way or if I was researching the wrong hotel as that Waterfront hotel was averaging $295/night CAD with no discount????  There are 6 of us in our group and we would possibly be interested in the group rate if you could still get it or not (gotta talk to the other 4 before I could commit tho Wink ) ?????

Thanks for any help you can give Big Smile

As butterfly mentioned: The Y is a much cheaper alternative to the host hotel... We recently booked a room there as well. If anyone is interested, here is a link for it:  http://www.ywcahotel.com/

Hi Denise, most of our group are staying at the 'Y' cos we will be in Vancover for a few days  and it is a lot less expensive than most hotels. However some of the younger singles in our group are not arriving untill Sat  and have not booked any were yet, so I will let them know you are looking for a room mate, cheers Jayne

I am wondering if any of you are traveling single and would like to split the cost of a hotel room for that Sat night Sep 15?

I am planning to fly into Vancouver that morning so I have a little time to see the city.

Please email me back if any of you want a roomate that night.

Right now we are booked at the Le Soliel. We may change if we find something we like better, but for now that one seems quite nice. A bit further from Canada Place than some of the others, but we really liked the old world look of the place.

Don't know a thing about it other than what we read on the internet. Sure hope it's as nice as the reviews say.

We'll be arriving a few days early to explore and enjoy Vancouver.
