I have also done balcony and inside room. For me the balcony was a waste of money cause i was not in the room much. But it was nice for fresh air.

We don't spend a lot of time in the room. to change and sleep so an inside room is ok for us. It is also nice if you want to take a nap in the day to refresh before the evening fun because is gets very dark. Bring a night light.Confused

My wife and I have been on two cruises with Olivia so far and are booked on the Sun Cruise as well. We had a Varenda on the first one and an inside stateroom on the second. I agree that it is really nice to get fresh air when you want and it does make the room seem bigger but honestly we don't spend that much time in our rooms so it really comes down to price and preference.

If there are 2 of you travelling, I recommend a balcony room. it gives you much more of a sense of openess than an inside cabin does, and you can get fresh, non-airconditioned air anytime you like.

I usually book myself a room with a balcony, but i did my last cruise in an inside room and wasn't as happy there without a view/fresh air. It is also nice to know what it is like outside, before you leave your cabin LOL.

Since the rooms on the NCL ships are smaller than the HAL ships, get as large a room as you can afford comfortably.

We have only been on a cruise once before (Westerdam last March with Olivia).  We loved our veranda.  It was like another outside room.  The sliding doors are floor to ceiling and it feels more "open" and larger.  I don't think we would book another cruise without the veranda, but I guess it is a matter of preference.

Hi all,

We've never been on a cruise and have no idea about the difference in rooms.  We don't want to pay a gazillion dollars, but wonder if that significantly improves the experience.  Sadly I am also a bit claustrophobic too.  Do people highly recommend a room with a balcony or is that just an extravagant expense?
