Indeed- what we all really need are suits to keep the UV rays off! I'm about to invest in a full-body anti-UV suit for snorkeling so that I don't take a sunburn home to Seattle with me.

That's exactly the way we feel Blue _Water_Shark. The women of Olivia are there to relax, be themselves, meet new friends and make many wonderful memories. We wear whatever we're comfortable in, and if someone is there to judge us on our attire, perhaps they might consider a vacation involving a completely different venue. Wear what you want to wear...like Blue says..you'll be beautiful no matter what. We'll see everyone there soon...in our comfortable shorts, t shirts (some oldies), swim suits, whatever. You'll recongnize us by the smiles on our faces ;)

Even women who are "skinny" wear clothing that hide themselves because they feel uncomfortable. The way I see it is this; All women are beautiful.. doesn't matter their age, size, race or looks. We are all unique in our own little ways and we should be proud of who we are.. never mind if we think other people will stare at us because they may not like what we are wearing.. Who cares if other people stare? I always cared about what other people thought about me when I was out in public but over the years I have come to realize that majority of them are just jealous because I have the courage to go out the way I am... most people are very envious over people with the courage to be themselves.. regardless of what others think! Tell your wonderful partner that no matter what she wears, she will be beautiful...

I'm sure there are many other women out there that feel the same way! Put on your best smile and remember that people will like you for you, not everyone bases their opinions on what the other person looks like!

I wear board shorts on top of my regular bathing suit.. well I did until I finally got the courage to wear a bikini.. 27 years old and I only just put a bikini on for the first time! She could always wear a regular bathing suit with board shorts and and a tank top on top of that.. then as she becomes more comfortable, she can lose the tank top.... Sometimes all it takes is for one person to see that there are other daring women out there sporting their bodies- how ever they may be!

Cool See you out there in 78 days! Paradise

I bought my swimsuit from a wonderful website called www.swimsuitsforall.com  Their suits start at size 8 and go up to a size 32. Very reasonably priced. Beautiful, colorful, quality made suits in everything from one piece to tankinis to suits with attached sarongs for extra coverage. They also have cover ups, board shorts, water shoes and lots of other goodies. I bought 2 suits from them. It sure seemed like I ordered the suits one day and just a day later I got them in the mail. I am a plus size woman, and I have NEVER felt sexier in a bathing suit than when I tried on my new suits. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

See ya soon!!!!!!

Larger women should check out Junonia, www.junonia.com. They sell non-frilly, not hyper-femmy women's sports and casual clothing; good quality, reasonable prices. Woman owned and operated.

Thanks girls.  I just went and bought my new suit today.  I'm super excited.  We haven't been on vacation yet by ourselves without our daughters.  Now I just need to convince her that the $$$ is worth it.

No worries, we are not skinny girls either!  I do wear a bathing suit, just cause I  dont care :).  Ii typically get Speedos from a sports store in Colorado that has them up to size 26 - great styles and they really hold up.  or, this time of year, Sams has them for 1/3 the price up to size 18.

My partner prefers to wear mens bathing suit shorts - she too is (IMHO) lovely and femine, but likes that she can go to the ladies room without completely undressing.  We both wore them when in Hawaii last year as it was cooler and the zip pockets are great.  integrated underwear - how wonderful!

On top she either wears a rash guard shirt (rashguard.com), or the top of what they now call a tankini - a bathing suit top that stops at your waist or hips or even below, depending on the style.  Those we get on line - Lands End has some really nice ones with matching shorts and there is another catalogue we order from with sizes up to 5x.  Cant remember the name.  their stuff is not as nice, but loaads of choices.

Ii like the rash guard shirts when snorkeling rather than a tee as it dries fast, doesnt weigh me down and is wonderful in the water.  they run quite small tho.  Dive shops all have them too.

I  am SO SO excited about the trip!  Come and join us.

no matter what you wear…you find yourself completely comfortable with the olivia women!

we wear board shorts with the “quick-dry” t-shirt type tops or some times my gf wear a sports bra top.

what’s most important is to just be comfortable…or as olivia says…feel free!!!

Aloha,

Just to let you know both my partner and I wear baggy boardshorts and tank tops. I wear a bikini top under my tank and my girl she just likes a cool looking sport bra. Sure their will be those who sport the fancy bathing suit thing but come sit with us and feel comfortable on the beach.  Oh and boardshorts are very cool for a chick to wear. Girls wear them here in Hawaii everywhere.

I really wouldnt worry...you see everything on an Olivia trip...she could just wear a t-shirt with the board shorts...or sports bra and t-shirt for more support.....Because the sun is so strong in Cancun I wear a t-shirt over my bathing sit, just as a little extra sun protection.

Bathing suit dilemma. Help!
02/21/2010, 6:32 AM

Hi. I'm Hope.  My partner and I are contemplating this Cancun trip, but I have some reservations.  I want to make sure she's comfortable on our vacation, which is why I am looking at Olivia.  She has trouble holding hands or kissing in public because she doesn't want to make other people uncomfortable.

Anyway, I figure that this is the best option because she won't have to feel that way.  Except I know she'll be uncomfortable in a bathing suit.

She's about as feminine as they come on the inside, but she's a big hipped, guy-clothes-wearing kind of girl.  She as often remarked that she doesn't know what to wear at the beach.  I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Regular female bathing suits are definitely not an option unless it's covered with board shorts.  What do you wear with board shorts if you aren't particularly skinny?

Thanks for your help.

Hope and Hope (we're both Hope lol)
