Hi Gypsy!

I love that name, it reminds me of "just Being free to be"!

Welcome to the group and eventhough you are in a somber mood, always remember; this too shall past!

Gypsy,

You are in the right place for sincerity, we can be serious, but we mix a bit of humor in there as we all could use a good laugh every now and then.  There are awesome people here and you will definitely get honest responses to your questions or comments, so dive right in and join the fun!

May God Bless your journey as he has blessed ours...

Crusher,

Recently joined, was so spirit happy to see a group like this, with the quality of topics and the sincerety of the ladies in this group, in the reading of the different topics.  I just want to read them all and answere all.  Have been in a more serious state in my life so have been more attracted to the more somber ones. ......Thank you,

Welcome Shy !

Glad you are here !   Thank you for sharing with us.  We are all here to support one another, listen, and share ideas.  This is a good place to be ! Hope you find some direction, sounds like you are  trying to figure out what is going on and get back on track.  Life is all about change.  Learning to deal with change and staying on the right track can be a challenge.  As Crusher and Hyer have both mentioned, I also believe religion and faith are two very different ideas.  Nobody can take away your faith.  Its all YOU !!!!   Wishing you a happy  journey !

Greetings Shy!

Welcome to the group even if you're not sure this is where you belong.

If I may comment upon your statement about your religious belief...just as Crusher has mentioned, religion and faith don't necessarily go hand and hand.  What's more important is your personal relationship with God. Religion is man made!

Think about this...you were removed from your religion and as a result your family and community will not speak to you! I ask you...is this the nature of anyone who resembles the God that is loving and welcomes all? I will leave it at that and ask that you take this matter up with the God in you because we all have variations on beliefs. The only thing I will say is....is the God within you all inclusive or demand that you fit within a box?

Leaving you with Soulpeace!  Ev

Thank you for the kind words and for the warm welcome.  I feel like I have had to put the pieces of my faith back together because they were shattered all over.  And I have felt very alone in all of this.  It's good to have a place to express this.

First of all, welcome to this group and I think this is exactly where you need to be.  Secondly, I think that you should begin to separate religion from faith.  Shy, there is no one on this earth that has the power to speak for God and his judgement on your life and your eternal life.  This is written in the scriptures they profess to follow.  You can't pick and choose.  I think you are absolutely right, that God is not that harsh.  We are all sinners and have fallen short of his standards.  We are also all forgiven if we acknowledge that Christ is our savior and the way to salvation.  I don't think changing your "religion" is what will bring you peace.  Loosing loved ones and their acceptance and their approval is extremely hard, but consider this... we all have to account for our behavior and actions before God.  They are no better than anyone else and because they have shunned you they actually are going against the primary principles of Christianity.... Love your God with all you heart and Do unto others.... you can't do one without the other...

You know what type of person you are and you know your relationships with God is yours, not theirs to know and cherish... Do not leave God because of another man... this would be the greatest mistake.

I too grew up in a very religious family and although my mom has left my "choice" up to God and I have other family members that would prefer not to be around me, I know that I am saved and what they think is irrelevant.  Have faith in your faith, not in your religion... my opinion is religion is of man, faith is of God.... which would you rather have?

Hi, everyone,

I have been reading your topics with interest and I'm not sure if this is the place I should be, but I haven't found another group yet that is closer to it.  Most of you seem to already have found peace with your religious belief.  I am still trying to come to terms with the loss of my religious belief because of having come out as a lesbian late in life.  I was deeply involved in my religion and married to a minister.  I won't go into all the details but I was removed from my religion and the whole community of my friends and family no longer speak to me.  I really, really believed in my God and was very active in my church.  But I have been deemed ungodly, a sinner, and unworthy of life eternal.  I am doomed to destruction.  That is what they tell me anyway.  I don't believe that God is that harsh and I have felt him with me many times.  But always in the back of my mind is that feeling that maybe they are right.  One of my old friends from my elementary school days rekindled a friendship with me, and even though she was raised a Christian, now professes to believe in the IChing.  I am open to other beliefs and other ways of worship if I can come to peace. I guess I am trying to find myself and a community that I can feel safe in and that once again gives me hope that I am not the wicked person that I have been judged to be.  There is another group on Olivia that has a topic regarding straight and married women.  The feeling there is to stay away from them.  It was my religious belief that kept me from discovering who I really was and now that I am out, I know that I will never go back to a man. And because of that, I will never be allowed to return to my religious community.  I know I had to go through the fire to get where I am, but it hasn't been easy and I have missed the companionship of fellow believers.  Can anyone relate?

Crusher,

Thank you for stepping up  !   I think it is important for Christian Lesbians to have a safe, comfortable, supportive  place to discuss all issues .  As Finallyfreetobeme mentioned,   we only have text here.  We can not tell what tone is being used.  However; we are all here through Christ.  With that being said, I hope all that join will know that we are here to listen, talk, discuss issues and support one another. We are all different and have different life experiences.  We can learn from our differences and grow to be better people.

I  have a positive feeling about this group !!!  I am looking forward to many great discussions and also a good laugh or two !!!   Big Smile
