Greetings all,

I've traveled solo on all the cruises I've been on- Caribbean, Greek, Western Med- all were great.  I'm looking forward to my first resort!  Though I tend to be something of a loner anyways, the other solos on the trips were awesome, and I still stay in contact with some of them.  One of the nice things, for me, was the solos tables in the dining room.  It can be a bummer eating alone, or being a third wheel with couples all the time.  Though we may have been out doing different things during the day, it was fun talking about everything at dinner- kinda like family!

I've also had good luck with roommates.  On my first cruise, I went with a friend of mine, so that was no problem.  The second was a random draw solo, and we also got along great.  The third was a solo I'd met on the second cruise who I'd stayed in touch with- also great!  She's like a sister to me.  I've heard rumors of occasional bad roommate matches, and in those cases, Olivia helped work the issues out.  No worries!

Katch, you're right, it is addictive.  My spouse and I went on our first Olivia trip to the Mexican Riviera last month.  It was so awesome we booked both the Columbus Isle Resort in May and the Alaskan cruise in September.  We had a single friend along with us last month and she was skeptical about coming but had the time of her life and she also booked Alaska.  Olivia absolutely caters to everyone and the feeling of freedom is like nothing I have ever experienced.  Counting the days until May and looking forward to meeting all of you,

Dear Adena and everyone else who is going alone....

 You may be arriving alone, but the moment you set foot around all the lovely ladies of Olivia......not too sound like an old record or fireside song but, you will NEVER WALK ALONE again!!  I am going Solo and I enjoy my time with the Solo's and the couples.  No matter what the staff of Olivia does EVERYTHING possible to make this an awesome experience.  I believe that it works like this....the closer that we get to the trip (like within one month) you can connect/email etc with your roomie.  I may be confused, but depending on the type of room you have will also make a big difference in how much sharing your do with a roomie.  Some of the rooms just share a bathroom, but check with Olivia to be sure.  I have travel just about every way possible, i.e. a long time ago with my ex, Solo alone and Solo sharing with a stranger, who I got to know prior to the trip.  ALWAYS keep in mind that Olivia is there to make sure that your trip is a fun and comfortable trip and they will do whatever is possible to make sure you are happy.  Guest Services knows more about rooms and roomies as it gets closer to the time of the trip.  The Solo events are alot of fun, but so are the entire ship events and excursions.  You are not limited to do anything mandatory, but since it is your first trip and we are going Solo, you will want to go to one of the 1st or 2nd day Solo meetings.  Please try and relax and know that you are about to have the time of your life.  It truly is addictive.  I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible.  Please say hello, if I don't beat you to it (that goes out to everyone) and remember it will be here before we know it.

hiya all, my mate and I have just joined this trip...This will be my 4th olivia and my first resort.....I have experienced the last 3 trips very differently ....my first was with a couple that I shared with ( no funny business ha ha) the second was with my partner and the third with my mam..This trip is with my friend from the first trip....I have a girlfriend but will enjoy the solo stuff with my friend on this trip...I'm hooked on olivia and have taken one every year since my first it is the best experience a lesbian can have and the money it costs is never a second thought.....cheers uk

Olivia always has Solo programmes on their trips. They reserve sections in dining rooms for them &, if excursions are involved, have Solos going together. I don't think you would ever feel alone on any Olivia trip. That is unless you wanted to.

I do agree that meeting people ahead of time on this kind of Forum helps a lot.

Of course, all of we couples are very friendly too. That's the great thing about Olivia, everyone is friendly. You will have the time of your life.

 

 

Hey Adena! I'm thinking my friend is likely to be bailing on me so chances are i'll be going alone after all.

It'd be cool to hear from people who have been as a single and what happened etc. I'm thinking a good plan is getting to know people on here and them meet up with them when i get there! Kind of get the vibe going and not being a total little loner.

Alot of people think i'm totally nuts (but at the same time very jealous) that i'm going on this trip! Considering it's costing about $6000nz dollars.

Ummm Hi?! Haha i'm wanting to head on this trip and get one of the the simple bungalows. However i can't find any of my friends here in New Zealand who can actually afford to go! So if there's anyone out there who's in a similar situation, please let me know as i'm very much wanting to go but would like to share with an easy going, respectful tidy person. I'm 28 (will be 29 at the time), tomboyish/semi femme single and fun and very respectful. I'm hoping to form a friendship with the person i share with so i don't end up being a loner on the other side of the world!
