Amy and Staci -- not true.  We were all there, standing in the parking lot by 11:15 AM.  We had all been chased down on Friday and assigned a specific shuttle time on sign up lists done by Michelle from Olivia.

The Bahamas Air issue had nothing to do with seat assignments.  Believe me, we would have been happy to sit ANYWHERE if we could just load the plane and leave.  Rumors among us were that something was up with Bahamas Air computers at the airport, after they refused to do check-in at the resort.  Olivia staff held our scheduled bus to the airport for 15 minutes due to "a long line."  That was the end of communication from Olivia staff.  They then dumped us at the airport to stand for over 2 hours in the dirt parking lot while two airline employees took 10 minutes per person to check us in.  (We could have stayed at the resort instead...)  Although not an Olivia issue, it also took the longest I can ever remember to get through immigration and customs at Ft. Lauderdale (2 more hours.)  And there was ONE bus running between terminals when we arrived -- another 20 minute wait; many folks had to wait for the same bus to come around again because it was full.  That airport usually handles several cruise ships in the space of 2 hours!!

I agree that the flight delay was frustrating. We also could not sit together on the charter. :-( This was our last experience and hope next time it will be better.

We heard rumor that folks that were supposed to be on the Bahamas Air flight thought they were on the Spirit Air flight, and didn't make it to the airport when they were supposed to. Rather than allow them to miss their flight, they waited, causing many of you to miss your connecting flights. Our experience on Spirit Air wasn't exactly great, either. Most of us had to sit apart from our travel companions, and they wouldn't let us switch seats. Granted it was only for an hour, but it was still the idea. Most of the Olivia folks staff were on our charter, and experienced the issues first hand. Hopefully they'll re-evaluate the charters in the future.

Don't know how many of us missed flights home because of the 3 hours it took for Bahamas Air to check us in, but I informed Olivia of this, and Jeri said she'd follow up when staff return from Halloween cruise. It might be advantageous for others to follow up with Olivia, as Jeri said this was the first she'd heard about it. I had to stay overnight in FL (unplanned, on my sister's couch in Delray) and come home a day later. I know some other people had to re-book as well. It just seemed strange to me that this was an escorted trip and the charter (at $150 above published fare) was booked by Olivia, but no one from their staff seemed to be doing anything about it as we stood in the dirt parking lot -- not even telling us why it happened. Seems to me that having Olivia staff there to handle problems is one of the reasons we pay extra to travel with them?
