Ginger44 and SouthCarolina_Goldi are correct when they say that CI is a lot more casual than the Cruises. It is also a lot less humid than Cancun!!!!
Some informationre Spirit "baggage" items (and Actually I have a question re the Baggage Fees to those of you that have gone before? Are fees for "carry ons (added by Spirit last spring but after Olivia bought the charter, so hope not!)" and/or "checked baggage" included in the charter price? I do not usually travel on charters, so I am not up to speed...)
If so, most of the information below may be not applicable, to the Charter flights, except for the Spirit guidance on the difference between “personal” and “carry on” items and checked baggage weights and sizes (The last time I went toi CI, I did not fly via the charters. I WILL say that FYI, Bahamas Air overhead bins are REALLY NOT that big, so it IS a challenge to fit other than REAL “personal” items up there. (Look on BA website to see their limiting sizes and weights and fees) for checked baggages (the later if not included in the charter flight cost) I would like confirmation about the no fee for carry on for the FT L to CI flights.
The following information is for Spirit Air, according to their website:
“All customers who purchased reservations prior to April 6, 2010, for travel August 1, 2010 and beyond, will be “Grandfathered” and no carry-on bag charges will apply.“
My comments including this paragraph are in italics and apply only to the Olivia charter Spirit flight from FT L to CI. Any other Spirit flight or other flights TO Ft Lauderdale and Miami personally purchased by us thru Spirit Air or airlines, or for the other charter flights to CI have different cost policies. Since Olivia bought the Spirit charter flight before this policy change, I believe that the cost of the “carry on” items we bring, are not subject to the additional charge, since Olivia bought out the flight long before April 6, 2010. However, it is probably a good idea to confirm with Olivia/Spirit that this is true, and there is no cost for the carry on. I believe that lower checked baggage fees may STILL apply since they were in effect before April 6, and are probably not included in the charter cost already paid to Olivia. If that is true, It IS cheaper to plan ahead and pay the fee in advance for the ONE checked bag that Olivia already says we are limited to, on line, since cost is higher to do at airport. But AGAIN, this information should be checked with Olivia/Spirit see if maybe the checked baggage fee is part of the charter cost, already paid, which would be GREAT! I plan to do check, since it is also not clear how or if we get our boarding passes in advance for the Spirit charter flight from Ft. Lauderdale!!!!! (Since I have not finalized all the the trip arrangements yet, so that info may be in the paperwork I receive from Olivia.(These questions are also true for Bahamas Air flight from Ft. Lauderdale and Miami air flight.

Fees apply for all checked baggage. Each checked bag must have identification on the outside of the bag. Spirit recommends placing identification tags inside luggage as well.
***NOTE: According to Olivia, we are allowed only 1 checked bag for the charters, but I did not see whether there was a charge for checked bags on the Olivia travel information or resort guide links for this trip. Probably is there IS one, so see below:
