Oooo - how excited am I? I just got back half an hour ago from my 2 day course, with my PADI certificate in my hand. Just need to do the 4 open water dives at the resort to be properly certified. Any other absolute beginners going?

There are 2 scuba excursions daily if you have the proper certificates -- no charge.  Also 2 snorkel excursions, no charge.  There are various instruction packages that DO cost extra -- they are described at the resort's web page, but no prices givien.  I could not tell from your post whether you were looking to dive or LEARN to dive...

We do not know yet how much diving we will do. We have been trying to call the resort to get prices on the dive packages but nobody ever answers the phone at the resort.

Don't think I saw sNuba at the resort...and I can't remember if there was an excursion available for that, either.  Guess I'm not much help. 

I AM PLANNING TO SNORKEL EVERY DAY!!!! Do you know if they have sNuba? That is where the tank is on the top of the water and you have a 25' hose. You don't need to be certified to do it. I was thinking of trying that too.

I only snorkel but went to CI last year....they have an extensive snorkel AND scuba program; separate boats go out for each, morning and afternoon.  The great thing is that the boats go to different reefs all week (the schedule is posted) so you can go out multiple times and see different stuff.  I think you are right that the island is known for diving, as when I rented a bike and explored the island, the only other "hotel" I saw was a small one down the street that has catered mostly to divers for years, I was told.  And last year when I checked Tripadvisor for this Club Med, many positive comments were about the diving at the resort.

We will definitely be diving!! I will be logging my first real dive and my partner has been on dives already but I am very excited to go! I cant say we have been to Columbus Isle before but I have read on the internet that it has good diving! Do you know how many dives you are planning on doing?

My girlfriend and I started diving a little over a year ago and were torn about taking an Olivia Vacation or a dive trip when we decided to try and do both...we would love to know if anyone has ever been to Columbus Isle and done any scuba diving before. We are from southern AZ and would love to connect with some fellow travelers with similiar interests.
