Hello All - I second Kathy's sentiment, it is very fitting that Phyllis and Del were the first married.  Their life stands as a testament to the resilience and power of our love!!

We got our marriage license yesterday!!!! A little more than a week till we get LEGALLY married.  Please think of us at 4pm PST on Saturday the 28th!!

Peace & Blessings to all of you, I am sad that not all of my sisters can get married, but I do believe that  "as time goes by, the rock will wear away".

What an awesome day this is!  Not only can California couples now wed legally, how fitting is it that the first two married were Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon. These two pioneering women were responsible for ANY rights that you and I enjoy today.  If you don't know who these two are, shame on you.  It's like a black person not knowing who Rosa Parks was.  Please google them and see what they have gone thru to give us what we have today.

And join me in congratulating them as the first legally married lesbians in California.

It is so astounding, it chokes me up.  THANK YOU, Del and Phyllis for all you have done for us.

To All the Friends we have met and all those we haven't:

After 29 years together Nancy and I will be LEGALLY married on June 28th at 4pm PST.

I wish you could all be there, think about us around that time, our wedding will be a celebration, but we will pause during the service to hold those who cannot yet legally marry in our hearts. Someday, all will be free to marry.  A straight friend of mine sent an editorial to the San Jose Mercury News (and it got published!!).  She closed with these words:

Marriage is not about race. Marriage is not about gender. Marriage is about love and family.  Yours and mine.

May it Be So

Suzanne.

The decision on whether the opposition has enough signatures for the Nov. ballot is due soon and we will know more where we stand then.

Ladies CONGRATULATIONS!

Just have faith.  It will all work out.  Massachusetts has tried and it is still legal - I really do not think that they are going to try anymore.  Michelle and I just had our 1st year anniversary and they can never take that away from us!  You go girls - believe us - it will all work out!!!!

Isn't this just awesome?  Janice and I were one of the 4000 couples who's appointment in SF was cancelled in 2004.  We are going to wait until the dust settles though because if you are registered domestic partners (and we are), your DP becomes invalid if one of the partner's marries.  and then if the marriage becomes invalid, your DP is in limbo.  Our DP is not marriage but it does offer us more rights than we have ever had before and we do not want to jeopardize that.

That doesn't stop us from doing the happy dance!

California Marriage Decision

Hello All - In case you haven't heard, the CA Supremes ruled today that the ban on same gender marriages was unconstitutional.  30 days from today it will be legal for Gays and lesbians to be legally married!!!    2 states down, 48 to go!!

 Link to the decision: http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/opinions/documents/S147999.PDF

Unfortunately there will be an amendment to the state constutution to define marriage as being only between a man and a woman on the Novemeber ballot, but I believe we will defeat it.  The time has come, the tide has turned.

 Blessings,

Suzanne
