Suzanne... That Erma Bombeck saying has ALWAYS gotten to me... It is sooooo true!!!  I love it.

OMG!! Those babies are so stinkin' adorable I can't stand it!!!  I would love to have a chance to hold and love on them!!  Those are great pictures!  So glad they are both safely home with their moms!!

Congrats again

Blessings to the four of you.  They are so adorable and you two (the parents, that is) are in for the most amazing journey of your life.  Enjoy every minute of it, it goes sooooo fast!!  My son is about to be 19 and I can't believe it.  My offering to Xander and Avery:

Excepted from Kahil Gibran:

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.

And from Erma Bombeck:

Agreeing to have a child is agreeing to have your heart walking around outside your body for the rest of your life

Enjoy!!

Suzanne

Here are a couple of funny pics of the twins. Avery just came home today from spending 11 days in the NICU.
We are so happy she is finally home with us and her brother.

Sending congrats from Australia on the new additions to your family.  Glad bubs and Mums are doing well....

It's not the size of the fighter that counts, but the size of the fight in the fighter...... Big Smile

Party!!!Jenn and Shelley!!!  Congratulations!!!  We are so very happy for you all!!!  Your journey ahead is paved with unconditional love and a beautiful story!  I am so delighted to hear they are both here and doing well.  Avery sounds like such a strong little fighter already (you go girl!!)  And, well, I (Donna) am partial to the name Alexander, as it is my son's name... and it is associated with "great" people!!  You are both about to find out what it is like to forget about the life you knew... and love two little people more than you EVER dreamed possible.  It is truly an amazing feeling knowing that there are two people who will always, always stand up for you... love you no matter what... and be a part of you like you have never experienced.  It is a joy like no other.  (Never discounting love of partners/wives... because that too is amazing... but these are your flesh and blood, and your responsibility to help mold into wonderful, successful heirs that you can look back and beam with pride over.)  My son is getting ready to graduate... and I am a little melancholy right now.  Sooooo soooo happy for you both!!!  Enjoy your journey!

The Twins have arrived!

Hi all,
Well the twins FINALLY arrived on March 7 (Friday.)

Alexander (Xander) was born at 2139.  He weighed 6.5lbs and was 20 inches long.

Avery was born at 2140.  She weighed 4.6lbs and was 18 inches long.  Yeah, she's a little thing.

They both have a ton of dark hair and are absolutely adorable.  Xander has been at our bedside most of the time and he is doing just fine.  He has even been holding his head up for brief periods of time.

Avery had to go to the NICU right after birth and has been there ever since.  She had a little trouble remembering to breathe and was very small, but she is doing much better.  She is in the step-down unit of the NICU now and is thriving.  She loves to look around and check out the world.

Shelley is a little uncomfortable from the c-section but doing fine.

I will post pics asap!

~Jenn
