Well there JoJo!  It used to be a ratio of 10 Pesos to $1.00 …but since the economy has gone wacko…it's changed somewhat…as of today 10 Pesos is equal to about $0.79…or $1.00 = 12.70 Pesos

As far as customs goes…getting through in Mexico is the red light/green light system…red light you get searched…green light you go through.  And yes, there are "time share" guys in the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo airport too (though not as many)…just ignore them as JoJo said.

When leaving…Mexico has always done the extra searching through bags prior to the x-ray/security machine and they usually search again prior to boarding the plane…guess we'll all see what new security plans lay ahead!

Maybe some else can comment on this also as I have never been to Ixtapa. But getting through the airport in Puerto Vallarta I was advised to just keep walking until I meet up with Olivia transport or the taxi stand if you're coming early . The people that will come up to you that are dressed in suits are time share people and you probably don't want to get caught up in that...Unless you do. 

So just keep walking and they do understand the word NO!...It helped my anyway. And this time I am going to just use American money...they take that also. It's a 10 to 1 ratio. Or 1 to 10 ratio. I never really get it. But SLEDDOG or someone can maybe explain it better.  See you all soon.  JoJo
