Kate-

You will have a great time.  There is so much to do that you will be able to take your mind off things.  My concern is that I took this cruise last year with my partner. We had a wonderful time. Now that we are not together I am considering this cruise again but wonder if it will make me sad or if I can forget the past and make lemonade with you Kate!  jo

I wasoriginally booked to take this cruise with my partner, but following a mutual(but sad) break-up, I have decided to go on my own! I am finally starting tofeel excited about it and am now looking at the opportunity through "neweyes". I have travelled solo extensively in the past (Europe, Africa) butnever considered going solo on a cruise....that said, when life gives youlemons...you make lemonade...and heck, I think I'll go farther than that andmake a lemon martini!! And I strongly suspect I may share one or two of thosemartinis with some fun and interesting women.

3-monthcountdown, here we go!

I'm seriously thinking about joining everyone else on this cruise and I will be solo as well.  I hope to see all my singles out and about--maybe a love connection will be made...Wink

Congratulations to everyone who's getting hitched--Best Wishes to all of you...Drinks

I have enjoyed reading everyone's entries as it has eased a little of the nervous feeling I have about taking this cruise solo. This will be my first cruise with Olivia. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and having a great time.

Glad to be of service!  i've heard the horror stories and jokes about packing certain things and would hate to be the one who holds up the securiy line because something was buzzing or something!!  Thanks so much for the reply :-)  Now I KNOW everyone will be looking at me thinking "That Girl is Packing".  LOL!!!

LOL!!! Thanks for the laugh! Not to worry--we have brought "toys" on cruises before! Just pack them carefully in your suitcase. I think we used a pillowcase, tied it shut, and just put them in our checked luggage. After all, wouldn't want them to fall out should the suitcase open unexpectedly or if they decide to go through that bag! I'd remove any batteries and carry them in your purse if I were you. Or better still, just get batteries in San Diego.

Again, thanks for the giggle!

I went to Alaska last year, my first Olivia cruise, and I really wished I'd gone solo! So this year I decided on "flying solo". If the organisation and itinery are anywhere near as good I know I'll be in for an excellent trip. I am really looking forward to it and meeting fellow solo travellers.

Hey Akaesha,

A few of my friends and I from Oz have just booked and it will be the second cruise for a few of us, we are a mixture of singles and couples. The first time around there were a dozen of us from Oz and geez our accents really stood out! I found the first cruise to be really friendly and whether you are by yourself or in a group I am sure you will have a ball.

Cheers,

Reeksie

Hi Purplehayes,

That was some good information you provided. This will be my second Olivia cruise, but my first time going solo. I just made my reservation today but already getting excited about being on another Olivia cruise! They sure talk up the solo program so it's good to hear from people who have experienced it first hand. See you there!

This will be my second Olivia!  My first was just a few weeks ago, the Cruise for Our Cause.

It was incredible!  And I have to say, I think what made it incredible was that I went Solo.  I'm 25, and had no doubts about going alone.  I knew it would be ok.  And it was.  You won't be solo very long.  There are plenty of "solo" activities from the moment you start your trip.  This helps you meet other solos, and you make friends.  It's a truly empowering experience going alone.  I loved it.   The vibe on an Olivia trip is so beautiful, and it's so easy to meet people, if that's what you're open to.  (If you want to be alone for a week, to just be, that's also possible!)  And being "solo" does not necessarily mean you are single.  Not every Solo is looking to hook up, though for some reason, it seems like most are.  But I managed to befriend a great group of solos who also left their partner at home.  There is a little something for everyone, and you'll find what you're looking for, whatever that may be.   I'm going Solo again!

 See you on the boat...
