We absolutely loved Columbus Isle, it was our 1st Olivia trip, so it was very special. The entire resort is beautiful! Your partner will have many choices to forego any boredom. Olivia does a great job of offering many excursions, daytime fun activities, nightly shows. There was always something going on by the pool & the beach. Snorkeling is offered twice daily by taking a boat to different locations daily ie; ship wreck, coral reef etc. There isn't really any reason to leave to resort on your own as San Salvador doesn't offer much on the island as it is very small & no where to explore or shop...just plenty of gorgeous beaches. Some took bike rides, but reported it wasn't worth going. Flight arrangements are dependent upon where you are departing from...I know Olivia has a special charter that leaves from Miami, FL to San Salvador..worth taking! Didn't notice any crime, but the resort has all you need. We would definitely go back to Columbus Isle...but want to try other places we have not yet been yet.

I want to do a resort and we are looking at Columus Isle or Punta Cana (if offered) or Turks. (We just got back from the cruise and Cancun too soon for another- looking for '09) My partner gets bored easily so we need to be able to keep somewhat busy. Leaning toward Col. Isle- have you been there and what was your experience with Col. Isle? Would you go again? Heard any comparisons with the others? What about doing things on land- San Salvador warns about high crime rate- did you venture out and was it safe enough? What were your flight arrangements like? Have to spend a night on another island (Nassau)? You can answer above questions about any of them- we prefer the Atlantic side tho. We LOVE snorkeling so want to do that alot.
