I looked them up too and was concerned on the time line. Maybe they will shorten the excursion to be able to get back in time.

I would be VERY disappointed if we cannot see GOOD ruins. That is the reason for picking this trip.

From the looks of it though, you may not have enough time to go to Chichen Itza or Tulum (the major ruins).  Those excursions look to be about 8 hours long and we're only in the Cozumel port (at least for the Cruise for our Cause trip) for about 8 or 9 hours.  The ruins that are on Cozumel island, from what I've read, aren't worth seeing.  My partner really wants to see the ruins at Chichen Itza but we may not have the time.  I think we'll be doing a Swim with the Dolphins excursion....YEA!!  Paradise

They are going to Cozumel instead. From there the mainland can be reached by ferry & there are several ruins to visit.

Check out the Holland America excursion guide for the locations you'll be visiting.  I'll bet you'll go someplace else where you can see Mayan ruins. . . and if you aren't going to be able to visit Costa Maya, Olivia may add another "new" site to your itinerary.  That is what they did when one of our cruises in the past couldn't visit a site in the W. Carib due to hurricane damage.

A gal wrote "ask Jeri" about the port being damaged by Hurricane Dean. I just found it and it is true- go to:

Wonder if there are other countries that have the ruins that we can go to instead, anyone know???

We are  gonna BE sooooooo BUMMED.
