Banside, tell your girlfriend to dive the Santa Rosa wall (part of Palancar reef). Also, she may want to check out the cenote (cave) diving off of Cancun.

We are booked for the first week, along with another couple in Minnesota. My girlfriend and one of our friends are scuba enthusiasts and are excited about the opportunities on this trip. This is our third Olivia trip!

Hi everyone. All the beaches in Mexico are public, however, location is the key. What works so well for us in Cancun is that the Club Med is at the end of the Hotel strip, and is the most private area there. It is not a beach people can "walk through" because of the cove. When we were there a few years ago, we did not have hardly anyone outside of the club there, even in the National Seashore Park. The access is very limited, and hardly anyone even knows about it.

It truly is a beautiful club, being rebuilt from the ground up since the devastating Hurricane a few years back. Though the beach is public, as are all beaches in Mexico, it does not have people walking through it. They pretty much stay to the left of the club. I hope this helps.

A write-up I found on www.Orbitz.com says they have a private beach. However, if you look at tourist info for Cancun it says that all beaches are public. If your decision is dependant on this maybe you should send an e-mail to the resort to cofirm one way or the other.

When I was at Club Med Cancun in the early 90's the beach was not private. In fact there was a underwater National Seashore Park on the grounds of the club that anyone can use. Great snorkling there though.
I cannot imagine that this has changed, but it has been a while since I was there. In fact I believe that none of the beaches in Cancun were private.
