I would like to thank the wonderful women of Olivia who stopped by our stateroom on the Med. Culinary Adventure to mourn the loss of our beloved Lacey, as well as their own "babies". We had pictures of all our furry babies taped to our door and many women stopped us to say they had read this post about Lacey. To those who have never been on an Olivia cruise, there is absolutely nothing like the bond that develops.

Just a quick note--Many of you have heard of Skye--the kitty we were fostering. Well, she is now officially our cat and she will NOT be leaving us!

Again, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Oh-- I just love that Rainbow poem!!! (sniff)

And I know when I 'come back', I want to be adopted by a lesbian couple, for sure!!

There is sooo much love out there!!! We are now down to one cat after having 3 dogs and 3 cats, so I know how all of you parents are feeling about your losses. I never really believed that people ever heard sounds after a death, but Caj and I were both sitting in the living room watching TV, and we BOTH heard our Betty, give one of her soft, muffled barks, and she had been gone for 2 months!!! So we know that she and Nikki and Molly and Kate and Allie are waiting for us when the day comes.

My heart was touched by your loving story of Cagney and Lacey! As with all of lives, our thoughts are the only real thing that we can control. All of our arms of support surround you as you continue to cherish those loving memories while dealing with the daily pain of loss. How fortunate for you, as well as Cagney and Lacey, that your love was so deep!!

Deja,

So sorry for your loss. They were so lucky to have found such a loving lifelong companion in you as you with them. The best we can do is to give them the best life possible in their shorter than human lives and it looks like they found that with you.

Deja,

Your story of your time with Cagney and Lacey was beautiful. I felt the joy with you at having found Cagney and nursed her to health and the joy of both of you finding Lacey as a companion. I also suffered with you at the telling of their loss. It is apparent how much they were loved and I know you were loved in return. What a touching remembrance. Thank you for sharing!

How fortunate for Cagney and Lacey to have found a home filled with such love and devotion. They were indeed lucky as were you to share such a long, loving togetherness. Memories will keep them both in your heart forever, and they will be your feline angels and keep you safe.

Deja - My heart goes out to you. They are like our children, aren't they? I lost my cat, Shadow about 7 years ago after 18 years of companionship. She found me too, apprearing on my porch at less than 3 months old. They are the best.

Deja and Janet,
So sorry to hear about your loss. The joy and memories of all those years will soon replace your tears. And I know Lacey and Cagney will both be waiting to greet you when you cross over. My little Yorkie, Chelsea is the love of my life! The most loyal, loving and sweet soul I know. Bless you both during this time of mourning.

Deja2004

It is so very hard when they die, but you are right, all the joy and love they bring us is worth it. 18 years ago I acquired a parrot, so that I would have a pet that lived as long as I did. I love my birds, but I have to say that I am Mammal centric and the brief time that I have my cats and dogs means more to me.

I am sorry for the loss of your beloved pets, and we are sending you hugs of comfort.
I never had a cat because my mom was very allergic to pet hair. We had a dog for about 5 minutes, then mysteriously the dog "got out" and we never knew really what happened to him until after my mom died, we were all reminicsing. My dad blurted out, how sorry he was he had to give up the dog...my sisters and I looked at him like what????
Anyway, about 4 years ago, Nickie and I rescued an abandoned/abused puppy and she is the light in our lives. Then two years ago we got another one to be her companion. After reading your story, I realized one day they too will pass and I will be unconsolable.
Sorry for your loss, we will toast Cagney and Lacey in Venice in a few short days.

PJ and Nickie

I want to thank each of you for your kind words. I am sorry for the losses each of you has suffered and I am thankful that the women of Olivia are such a kind and caring group! What an honor to be a part of such a great bunch of women.

That poem made me cry again, Cin and Jules, as did reading of the losses everyone else has suffered. I can't imagine life without pets, regardless of how it breaks our hearts when they pass on.

I know that Cagney and Lacey loved me as much as I love them. They brought such joy into our lives and I will never forget them. They will always be in my heart.
