I agree with you, Andi.  I think alot of it depends on the person and how she relates to her coworkers.  I never really came out officially, at work, but those who know me, know how I am, and accept me for it.  They also know that if inappropriate comments are made, I will hold people to task.  That applies to any inappropriate comments, not just gay/lesbian comments.

Here in the US, a lot of the lesbians I've spoken to say that they are discriminated against. i'm a different type of person I guess, because I go in respecting the job and loving it. I also demand respect for myself and as a lesbian. If I find someone on a job that I could have another type of relationship with, then I tred that water until I know it's safe for me.Lightning

It must depend on where you are in the world because noone where i works cares less that i am a lesbian. In fact, most of male colleagues seem to prefer working with me. Possibly because it means we can look for eye candy together. Maybe you should get yourslef over to sunny Essex in England as i'm sure you wouldn't have the same experience as a tax collector here

Hello 2 the Group,

I have a question 4 the group. Y is it that professional women catch so much flack about being Gay n the law enforcement area?

I am a professional tax collector that works 4 the Government & affraid 2 b myself at work. If it was 2 come out about my sexual preference every women at work would think that I am lookin at them. When that couldn't b further from the truth.

They don't know that most of them r not my type but yet I have 2 stay hidden. What is ur experience n this area?
