Straightlaced is the new documentary by Academy Award-winner Debra Chasnoff. It features teenagers talking about the pressures they face to conform to traditional gender roles and the homophobia that lies at the heart of those pressures. The film will be used in educational settings to open up dialogue among youth about these topics.
The producers are looking for femmy lesbian-identified teenagers (no adults) to talk about their experiences with homophobia, stereotypes and gender roles. These young women will represent some of over 50 students in the film of all gender identities, sexual orientations and ethnicities. We are only looking for students who live in the Northern Calfornia/San Francisco area.
Interested youth should email the producers with a few paragraphs about their experiences and/or thoughts about gender roles, homophobia and stereotypes, especially those about lesbians and how those stereotypes affect them. Please also include the following contact information: Name, age, city where you live, email address, phone number and a myspace or facebook username. Youth should also include a recent photo of themselves.
