I'm not going on this cruise but I just got back from the 35th anniversary cruise Feb 2. Oh my God, Solo is awesome on Olivia.  I'm sure being a couple is great too but that wasn't what was up for me this time out.:) Wish me luck for next time oh oh I'm supposed to be answering your question..

I don't know about how they book roomates because I was sort of last minute and got a two for one and didn't have to have a roomate for that price and didn't have to pay extra to be in my room alone.  I would call the Olivia office and get the person who booked you to tell you if you have to pay extra to be alone.  Let them know stuff like non smoker, snorer, up late anything you think is important.  If your a non drinker you may not want someone who rolls in at 3 am loud and smashed....now if your the smashed one that may be different!!Confused

I would recommend Solo to anyone.  They really go a long way to make you feel really comfortable and cared for.  It's great to eat together (special area in the dining rooms) and get to know new people.  Your friends-if they are a couple- don't have to worry about you not having fun or being lonely.  You can spend as much time or as little time seeing your friends because there is so much to do on the solo's program.  Even the "sista's" at sea program is open to all colors and hues, no exclusionary stuff and they have activities too.  They have some excursions just for solos.  I took one and passed on another because it seemed like too much climbing around to get to the beach. "Virgin Gorda" .  The solo program is not a fix up program but people do meet people.  There was so much fun stuff to do I can't even remember.  Best of luck you'll have a blast.  They put the next days schedule in the door the night before and you can check out the Solo stuff.  They gave us a little tag you can choose or not to choose to wear.  It sounds kind of silly ... a dog tag with olivia on it...It was the hottest item on the ship everyone asked me how they could get one. Who knew?  I really liked wearing mine it was fun.

Feel free to ask more questions if you like.  I was telling someone else about the solo program and said that I usually don't email much but I love telling anyone how great Olivia was. Chai

My best friends in Wheatland CA booked this cruise and I decided to join them. Yes Actually, I'll be in the stateroom next to them with a door connecting to their room. I may have a roommate-depending on how the trip books.  'all rooms are booked based on double occupancy' or that's what I was told when I made my reservationConfused Though I can't find it anywhere on their website, except for the following:
What is it like to travel SOLO with Olivia?  Great! What better and safer way to travel alone? Our Solos Coordinator organizes special activities such as dances, mixers and excursions. We also designate special tables at meals for solo travelers. Olivia will arrange a room-share based on social preferences like smoking and non-smoking. Ask our vacation consultants!
Traveling Solo? Travel solo on an Olivia vacation and you're sure to have a blast. Olivia travel and entertainment events are a great way to meet new people. With hundreds of solo travelers on each trip, you have endless opportunity to make new friends and maybe even meet the woman of your dreams. Olivia also arranges room sharing based on your preferences to find the most comfortable match for you. Most of our trips feature a "Solos Coordinator" and our Solos Program offers a wide array of activities-from dances and mixers to sunset cruises and games. We've set aside a dining section just for solos, so you'll never be alone (unless, of course, you choose to be).

This will be my first Olivia cruise. I've been on the Holland America cruise to Alaska 4 years ago on the same ship that this cruise is taking. I've also been on a smaller cruise line out of FL to the Caribbean 3 years ago. I enjoyed the Alaska cruise the betterRed rose emoticon

Would like to hear from anyone who's been 'Solo' on an Olivia cruise...Stick out tongue

Thanks Wink Wink
