Re: flights, pre and post pkg
07/20/2008, 8:45 AM

We are now on tthe 1:45 Air France because Air Tahiti kept cancelling their flights.  Nothing much happens after dinner on Friday night so we thought we might as well get going. Last year we got the post day room but our rooms were not ready until 2:00 pm and we had to leave by 7:00 for the airport. It seemed like a waste of money. On the in-bound flight we arrive at 5:30 am so I am  not sure what we will do. We are thinking about renting a car and seeing some of the island.

Olivia did not provide ship to airport transportation but the ship did  ( for a price).  A taxi ride from the airport is also an option and it would take under 20 mintues.

It is not unusual for pre- and post packages not to be done yet. They usually do not post them until about 5-6 months prior to leaving.

flights, pre and post pkg

Does anyone know how the sales are going for this cruise?  I called Olivia to inquire about  flights ,and pre and post pkg and was told they weren't doing any as we can get the same rates as them.  I don't want to waste a day on day of return--no time listed as to when we disembark and if there will be an opportunity to use a day room if we don/t leave until late.  Air France schedule departs AT 145am which I am thinking is on 3/22.  Has anyone booked a room anywhere if you are coming in early?looking forward to this trip and don't want to be stressing about this stuff.  also does Olivia provide transportation from ship to airport?  thanks for any info you might have to share.  kitty

I got the same bad news but was able to get re-booked on to their flight which leaves at 11:30PM.  The other option was to leave Friday night because the ship gets back into port before dinner which gives you enough time to take the late Friday night  flight. I was also told by Expedia that the flights may change several times before next March.

Flight change from Tahiti
07/14/2008, 9:07 AM
Just got back from another wonderful trip to the Keys and received a flight change from Tahiti, which throws off all the other flights to get back into Sarasota.  So staying another day might be a different option.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi,

My partner and I have been on a couple of Olivia cruises. We booked Tahiti on the Cruise for a Cause. Wild.

Anybody out there from the New England area going?

Thanks for the input.  I called Olivia Monday and still working on travel   arrangements, so Wednesday when we got out of school, I made my own arrangements with Air Tahiti Nui, for 1400 perperson roundtrip from LAX.  Thanks for you input and looking forward to meeting you two on the trip.  Keep in touch.Paradise

We booked our airfare  yesterday from San Francsisco to LAX to Papette through Expedia and it cost $ 1362 per person. Travelocity was six dollars more.  When I went to Air Tahiit and Delta's site directly it was several hundred dollars more. We used Travelocity to Tahiti last year and we had no problems. We were on the same plane as those booking through Oliva.  The tickets on both sites say you are on Quantas but we were really on American and Air Tahiti Nui.

Hi, Annie and Di here from Sarasota/Bradenton Florida.  We are very concerned about the airfair price from LAX.  Tried to book it ourselves and the price was like nuts.  We are waiting to hear back from Olivia on June 6th as to their reservations.  If it is too expensive we will not go and let them know by the 12th to not lose more than the deposit, but it is cutting it close.  I read it might be 1300 this year which is just fine, but when I went through Delta it was like 4000.  Knew something was up, so need some feedback.  I have been driving the girls at Olivia nuts with phone calls, but nothing is definite.  We are also going on the Galp trip in Nov. 2008, and have done lots of trips from Carribean to Greece.  Nothing like an Olivia trip, we have always been very pleased.  We are both teachers and will get out of school in a week, so will keep in touch.  If you know anything about teachers this is the rough time so we both hold on tight until the last week is over.Cool

We too are seasoned Olivia Travelers. We live in Northern California. I think this Tahaiti trip will be our 12 th trip. We did the Tahiti trip last year and it was outstanding. We can not wait to go back.  Last year they had two pre-trip options. The first wa a three night pre trip to Moorea. You fly in on Tuesday and stay at the Inter-Continental hotel for the first night. They then transfer you by ferry to Moorea for two nights. On Friday everyone was taken back by Ferry to the ship.  The other option wa a one or maybe two nights pre-trip at the Inter-Continental Hotel. The hotel was magnificent. We could have stayed there all week. I do not know if they are using the same hotel this year but Intercontinental has a website that shows this hotel in Papette. The only downside is that is about 30 minutes from downtown Papette and Olivia would not take yor luggage to the ship unless you waited with it for their bus.. They brought us over to the ship around 3:00 in the afternoon so we could use the hotel facilitites during the day although we needed to have our luggage ready to go in the morning.

On thje post trip they offered one and two night stays at the InterContential and the otpion of a day room. We chose the later because our flight was a ten in the evening. We will not do that again because by the time we got to the hotel it was almost three. We barely had time to change for a swim, take a shower  and have dinner before it was time to get on the bus to go to the airport.

Hope to get to know some of you gals before the trip.  Susan and I are from southern calif, the desert.  We have gone on about 9 Olivia trips and met some great folks that we have remained friends with.  We've never been to tahiti and i am most interested in the arrangements before and after the cruise. Olivia hasn't posted anything yet and I am an info junkie too!  so any of you who have traveled there before--HELP!  We just went to the Ellen show for the 3rd time (well, I didnt go this last friday because we have a sick kittie), but it is a very pleasant experience.  she is moving to a new studio--don't know what that means for #'s of tickets, but I would request as soon as I knew when you are going to be there.  Kitty (plpkat)

Bagge out of trip

We bowed out of the trip- about $14,000- way too much with the economy, recession, etc. Bummed but can't justify it. May do Columbus Isle instead in '09. You ladies have fun- it is a trip of a lifetime!!!!

I too am an infomation junkie. I plan all our trips in minute detail at least a year in advance. We already know where we are headed in 2010.

We did the one day pre-trip with Olivia and stayed at the InterContinental Hotel. My partner wanted to stay the week. This year we hope to do the three day pre-trip. Our friends ( who also returning  to Tahiti) did the trip and had a wonderful time in Moorea.

We flew down to see the Ellen show two years ago. You should order your tickets asap and arrive several hours before the show as having a ticket does not guarantee you get into the tv studio. They distribute more tickets than seats ( thus the riff raff room).

Travel362......Thank you for the information, that will hopefully help keep the luggage weight down ...lol. Jackets tend to take up more space and weight in the bags. You have mentioned that you have done this trip, that it is a good idea to arrive a day or two early in Papeete. Is there a certain hotel or resort that you would recommend? I know that it is almost a year away but I have a rather excited wife that is an information junkie.

Thank you for sharing such valuable information reguarding air fare/flight as well.

Flying into LAX we are considering spending a couple days before flying on,sharon would love to be able to see"Ellen" . I wonder if Olivia can make that a stretcher?..lol

Hope all have a great sunday.

Hailee
