Ladies of Olivia!!!!!!!
Thought it would be good to start a thread for anyone who is interested in extending their stay in Australia after the Olivia Down Under trip in 2008.
Unfortunately, we will not be joining the Ladies of Olivia on this particular trip, but are happy to answer any questions re places to visit or stay for a few days/week whilst in Australia.
My partner and I are from the sunny Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, so I thought first up, we'd share a little information about the beautiful area in which we live.
The Gold Coast is the tourist capital of Australia and has approx 14km of some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. It is also home to numerous theme parks - Movieworld, Dreamworld. Seaworld, Australian Outback Spectacular, Currumbin Sanctuary, plus Australia Zoo is only 2hrs away.
There are a number of 5 star Golf Courses, as well as public courses for everyone to enjoy. A few of them even have kangaroos and assorted wildlife on them!
For the nature lovers, just half an hour drive west of the beaches you will find the Gold Coast hinterland.
If there are any motor sports enthusiasts, the Gold Coast hosts the Indy 300 race through the streets of Surfers Paradise around the 18-22 October every year. The entire Gold Coast gets into party mode for this world class event which last for a week each year.
October is still whale watching season, and whales (humpback) can be spotted on a daily basis from the beaches. If you like to get a bit closer, there are tourboat operators who also run daily tours which are excellent.
Temperatures on the Gold Coast Range from 15c at night to 32c in the day during October. Daytime Temp generally between 24-30c....Great beach weather!
Well, there's a snapshot of the Gold Coast. Let me know anywhere else you may wish to visit and I'll do my best to let you know how to get there, must see items, etc etc.
Cheers
