Yes, it was the nicest trip I've taken in a long time. Check out some of the pictures I posted on my profile.

Chris_Guevara - Hi! I'm still planning my trip for this upcoming summer. I don't know where yet. I'll just see what there is when school is out. I'm doing the singles trip, but I'm looking forward to it. I bet France was amazing!

Dear Out2You,

Wow. Your job sounds just perfect. How's you new year coming along? I have to say that the happiest times of my four years of high school were spent in choir.Of course that was eons ago, but kudos to you!

Dear Joy1417, How was your trip? Where did you go?

My wife and I took a river cruise in France. The best (and only) time I've done that. It was special and I will treasure the memory for a life time.

Hi. I teach English and just moved to Wyoming where they seem to need an endless supply of teachers! I am also planning an Olivia trip in June or July and can't wait!

I'm a band director.  I have taught for 22 years and have at times felt like other teachers think that I am their time off period (when I taught general music)...that is until I made them part of my class.  I do know what you mean though and send good thoughts your way....you are touching the hearts of these kids!!!

I currently teach at a middle school.  I have two assistant band directors.  We have a very good orchestra, mariachi, steel drum and choral program.  We will be adding a piano class next year and I am trying to learn to play the harp (we had 3 harps donated to our school, but no one knows how to play one) so that we can add a harp class.

Do I sound excited!! This is the best position I have had and I have so many young teachers with such great ideas around me.  My school district isn't perfect, but there is funding for the arts.

Oh, I know there are other teachers, as on every Olivia cruise I have been, I have met teachers!  That's the reason I started this group.
You are right about the way teachers are valued in our society today.  It is unfortunate that parents, and political figures blame teachers for their own shortcomings.  Legislators in our state seem to think they know much more than teachers and pass all kinds of crazy laws for schools to implement, with no funding, or course.  They haven't set foot in a school in years, and never, ever consult teachers.
Special Education teachers are always needed.  You can be assured of finding a job.  I am a music teacher, and we are currently on the bottom of the rung, since No Child Left Behind depends so much on testing reading and math.  Most of the time, we're lucky that they even offer music (and art) in schools.  But then again, we're the "break" for the other teachers, aren't we?

I'm not technically a teacher, I'm actually a student currently majoring in education to become a teacher. I have a drive, but I'm not sure about the will, especially considering the economy and the value of teachers in our society. I think of teaching as an art, and I'm all for being a starving artist...to a degree. I want to work with emotionally disturbed children, be a beacon of some sort or at least a guiding light to someone or thing else that can inspire and preserve those who are lost.
