Evergreen (you'll always be Chloe's Mum to me!),

I totally agree with you.  Many times I start to send a message to someone and then completely forget what I have to say because I can't see the message.

My top priority would be being able to see messages I have sent to people, because I can't remember who I've sent stuff to!  But what Evergreen brings up is a close second!

Pat

...I noticed that when we reply to a thread that the "existing message"  appears there above the reply block as a reference....which is very cool...as it is nice to be able to remember what it is you are replying to  DogIdeaBig SmileYes     heh heh!!    This is what I would like to see when someone private messages me and I reply.

Right now ..when I want to be sure I've responded properly to a message...I generally copy and paste the  message I'm replying to idirectly nto the new message. And yes..this is time consuming and often frustrating.   ..and since I don't know whether my message has really truely BEEN delivered....(ie it's not in my "sent box")  ...I copy important messages to Notepad and save them there until I'm sure that the intended recipient has truely and in fact RECEIVED my message.   I have experienced messaging centers on other boards that are set up to allow you to access your incoming and outgoing mail  with a time/date stamp for reference.  I don't know how to do any of this, guys, or I'd help ya out.   I have a feeling there is alot more going on behind the scenes that I'm not aware of..which brings me to ANOTHER subject for another time!!   We can at least look forward to some helpful changes "in the next 3 months" ...Responding to our concerns ...not keeping us in the dark ..even if things can't be changed overnight helps me to feel that we are being heard......and that you actually DO care   ...It's also good for business .Wink

Something else relative to sending messages: When you reply you cannot see the original message!! In some cases I have had to resort to printing the original to ensure that I don't miss anything in my response.

I think these 2 problems should be fairly high priority, don't know if all of the few people posting here would agree..........

Pat,

Right now we don't keep track of the messages that you've sent.  We're working on doing this as an enhancement in the next 3 or so months.  It's really necessary, and we appreciate your feedback.

Great question dallover. I send messages & then when I get a reply I have forgotten what I had said!! Or, I send the same message twice!

Hi Sue,

Hope you don't mind another question, since you are now the God of problem solvers to me!  How do I find and read messages I have sent to members?  I know how to see messages I have received, but not sent ones.  Thanks, Pat

Hi Sue,

That is exactly what the problem was.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  Yeah, I actually sent out a message!
I was using Safari and Firefox seemed to do the trick.

Are you using the Safari browser?  That might be the problem.  We haven't optimized our site for Safari, and this could be a formatting problem.  Have you ever tried the Firefox browser on your Mac.  You can download it for free.  I'm curious if that might solve your problem.

 Let me know.

 Thanks,

Sue

Hi Sue,
Thanks for responding, but still no luck.  I have been doing everything you said.  The Message field is not a box I can type in on my computer.  In other words, there really isn't a box there.   I can type in the Topic field no problem because it has a box, but it's the Message area that is the problem.  The Formatting still doesn't work.  When I click Preview, I get the same prompt "The Message field canot be empty.  Please enter an appropriate text."

I don't understand why I can post to a group, but not to an individual.  For example, a member just sent me a note to which I tried to reply, but got the same prompt.

I have a Mac.  Would this be any reason for the problem?  This is driving me crazy!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you want to send a email to a member of a group, you should see them in Active Members.

Click on their avatar and you will see a send mail prompt. Click on that and it will open up a compose a message screen.   Make sure you type in a topic in the topic field. That may be why you are getting the prompt about the message field being empty.  I'm not sure why the formatting isn't working for you.  It worked for me when I tried it.  Did you click preview to see if the formatting appears?

Let me know if you're having any better luck.

Thanks,

Sue Zemel, Olivia Community Manager.

I can post to a group; however, I can't send out individual messages.  For example, if I want to send an e-mail to a member, I get the following prompt:   "The message field cannot be empty.  Please enter an appropriate text."  I don't get it.....I have typed a message in, so the box isn't empty.  I am also unable to  do any of the above things such as smiley face, bold etc.  If I click on them, nothing registers.

I am able to send out friend requests and post on groups, but why can't I send a note to individual members?  What do I need to do?

In order to post to a group, first you must join it.  Click on the group's name and you will go to a screen that gives you a short description of the group.  You'll see a Join the group button.

Once you've joined the group, you'll be able to add new topics and respond to posts.
