We arrived today as well .  It's sunny and beautiful here.  We're enjoying the Hyatt Regency Pier 66.  Looking forward to Sunday!

Everyone travel safe!

I'm a crazed reader with almost 800 volumes on my kindle app, glad to pass along faves. Have you read The Sparrow, by Mary Doria Russell? One of the best books to read in a time of grief, IMHO, and I know you're in one.

OOoooo - just read a review - it sounds good and I think I will download it.  Thanks for the suggestion.  For the past year I have read mostly YA fiction and while I have enjoyed it I would like to branch out.  The YA fiction is kind of job related.

A really marvelous book, The garden of evening mists. I liked it so well I read it three times in a row. Haunting, powerful story set in Malaysia. If you like Kingsolver you'll like this one. It was short-listed for the Mann Booker prize.

2 More Sleeps
01/22/2013, 3:34 PM

2 more sleeps and I will be on a plane to Fort Lauderdale - ah, can't wait for the warmth of the sun and of the women of Olivia.  Have to get through teaching tonight and then 8 hours at the library tomorrow and then I'm free for 10 days.  Well I do have to take Aggie to the Bed and Bisket tomorrow after work - hopefully without too much blood shed. I feel terrible since she has come to accept me ( or maybe resigned herself ) as her mom. I am wondering if 2 books on my nook will be enough.  I have Barbara Kingsolver's newest one and The Receptionist by Janet Groth - which I am really looking forward to reading. What is everyone else reading? Just in case I decide I need one more book.

Still having very shakey moments and missing Teresa immensely but I either have a good cry and talk myself through it or I take a zanax.  I think the best prescription is an Olivia cruise.
