We will be doing the same train trip from Paris....we arrive Paris Fri. 7/26...not sure yet when we will travel to Marseilles. We are looking forward to the trip down...to see some more countryside along the way. Please post your travel times and dates in case there is a possibility of connecting.  Thanks, Cathy and Deb

I just booked train tickets from Paris to Marseille. It cost $126 for 2 tickets plus a $8 booking fee and $21.90 for trip insurance (lost or stolen ticket, refund for strike). I also found out that it is about $6-$7 for a cab ride from the train station (Gare St. Charles) to the Olivia hotel,  Hotel Radison Blu. Go to RailEurope.com to make reservations. We chose the "comfort" level ticket. Our friend who travels in France regularly says food is extremely expensive on the train. She recommends you pack a lunch for the trip. Yum, some good french bread & cheese sounds good! The trip takes slightly over three hours. Hopes this helps.

Thanks for the information!  I have been reading all day about France, never been before, and then I saw your post.  LOL I should have come to the Olivia website first!

I just booked the train from Paris to Marseilles on the RailEurope web site.  It was very easy to do and the fares are pretty reasonable.

If you are trying to search for dates in July, it's too soon to see the schedule.  If you search for a date sooner, say March, it will show you the train does go to Marseille.  I don't think the schedules are available until 60 days in advance.  Hope this helps!

We have researched and you can purchase train tickets from Paris to Marseille from www.raileurope.com.  It recommends purchasing before you leave the US.  It's approximately a 3 hour trip and you can purchase tickets 60 to 180 days in advance.  The web site is very informative, i recommend people check it out.

Well it has been over 15 yrs since I last took that train, but it is something I was thinking about doing. At least it is a decent option.

We are doing the same thing...easier to fly into Paris with Delta sky miles...

Thanks for posting the information regarding the train ride.

We have consulted with Jill Cruise and a friend of ours who travels regularly to France. They both advised us that train trip from Paris to Marseille is three or four hours. Our friend tells us that it's not a difficult train ride. That's what we will be doing. we will fly to Paris and come home from Paris after we spend a few days before & after the cruise. We're waiting for Olivia to post the pre- & post packages.

Best wishes and we look forward to meeting you.
