Physicians are usually pretty cool about giving you documentation-letter.

We have never had a problem bringing prescription drugs to Mexico...this is basically all that Mexican Customs says about it:

Bringing Prescription Drugs to Mexico

You are allowed to bring prescription drugs into Mexico provided that you have the accompanying documentation which proves a medical need. If you or a member of your family are taking prescription drugs, be sure to take the prescription/doctor's note with you, which includes the patient's name and the name of the medication(s) to prove medical need of the drugs you are carrying in case your luggage gets inspected.

I believe that the staff if you are going to tip at the bar, or housekeeping (which I did), they really do prefer US dollars.  Not that it is a necessity as it is included in the trip but I believe that leaving a few dollars here and there makes your drinks come out a little faster (or stronger), and your room cleaned a bit quicker.  Now this is just my opinion.  I realize that the staff probably doesn't make much and anything I can do to help makes me feel good.

Hi and welcome! Kathy and I took our first Olivia vacation to Cancun and our questions were similar.  Best experience ever, BTW!!  let me try to respond to your questions.

$ or Pesos - for the Cancun trip, we only had $.  We had a bunch of fives and ones for tipping, which really came in handy.  At the resort, we liked tipping, even tho it was included.  Great at the bar.  We did take a couple of shopping trips and pesos would have been better then as the exchange rate on the first one was not wonderful and we saved money by paying in cash, not credit cards - better bargaining power.  We got some for the second shopping trip.  the magic trick is to know how much.  Of course, the resort will do change, but again not at at good rate, typically.  Depends on what you want money for honestly.

Rx - we ALWAYS put our Rx in the carry on.  no exception, the safest choice.  ours are the same variety, but would not want to be without them.  In terms of worries about customs and such, the question is more when you come home as US customs takes a dim view of Americans buying Rx in Mexico.  They are MUCH cheaper there, of course.

I do not know of that excursion company, sorry.  Would be early for whales, but cool.  I would love to snorkel, if it is available.

We are from Wyoming, but have close ties to the St. Louis area - look us up!

First timer here!  My partner Susan and I will be in PV for our first trip!

Questions:  Better to come with pesos or just get them when we arrive?

2nd question:  I have a little pill box for each day of the week, morning and night, for my RX.  obviously, then individual prescription info for each med is not available.  would I be able to do this or do I have to bring each pill bottle for my RX?  if have to take the bottles with me...should they be in carry-on?  just reg. stuff for cholesterol and high blood pressure, but still don't want to lose them.

3rd question:  I have read alot about Ocean Friendly water tours, very small groups, with a scientist. (supposedly the best for whale watching in season) has anyone experienced this?  sounds so informative, but more expensive than Puerta Adventures.  wanting to see birds, dolphins, maybe if lucky some whales came early, etc.

Can't wait to meet everyone!  And would love to meet anyone in St. Louis area for other couples to do things with!
