This will be our first Olivia vacation as well.  We're from New York and have always wondered about Olivia vacations and never took one...hopefully, we will get to meet most of you on this exciting trip. We're thinking about Punta Cana in May 2013 at this point, but there's a waiting list. :0(

Our first trip with Olivia was in 2004 to Ixtapa it was so amazing that I am about to do my 10th trip and the third time back to Puerta Vallarta.  The Olivia staff and family are all amazing.  The staff will see to your every need..  Try not to overpack ~ I say that to try and convince myself because I have not figured that out yet.  Eventhough I often come home with clothes that I never wore.  Cannot wait to see everyone...

Welcome to the Olivia family all you virgin travelers.  Believe me, y'all (we are also from south Louisiana) are in for the experience of your lives.  It is so amazing that you probably will become O addicts as we have.  We took our first one in 2008 and PV Palace (now Hard Rock) will be our 13th).  One piece of advice, attend all the Olivia gatherings at the resort, especially the talks by Judy.  (Judy is the founder and President of Olivia).  They will give away 2-4-1 vacations.  We were fortunate enough to win a few so that helps a lot with the expenses. 

I agree that any question you have will be answered on here (and we have all been virgins at one time so don't be shy).  LOL

Welcome to the Olivia world! We've done 3 trips with Olivia so far, this trip will be our 2nd time to PV with Olivia. The resort and its staff are amazing.

 One word of caution, at the airport there will be several folks dressed nicely that look and act like they're affiliated with Olivia. They're very nice and very helpful, but they're not with Olivia. They're happy to make sure you connect with the Olivia people (for an assumed fee). You don't have to pay them, but you might hear about it if you don't. The Olivia people have signs, so just keep walking until you see the people with the Olivia signs. The unfortunate thing is, you'll see these guys long before you see the Olivia people. The packet that Olivia sends out about a month before the trip talks about how to identify the Olivia people, but somehow we still got confused. Like I said, they're very nice and helpful, so use them if you want, you'll just be contributing a little more to the local economy! : )

Customs at the airport is goofy. You push a button and get either a red light or green light. If you get a red light you get inspected. If you get a green light, you don't. They pretty much go through everything, and there's very little privacy in the event that you travel with your favorite "toys".

I know, the airport sounds a little crazy, but trusy me, once you get to the Olivia bus, heaven begins, and you will be in absolute heaven for the week you're at the resort!

I could go on and on about this place. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. There are many folks on this board that have been to this resort before. All of us are happy to answer any questions you have!

My name is Karla and my wife is Casey, we live in Nashville Tn. We are seasoned travelers but this is our first Olivia trip. We are very excited to travel with Olivia. Some advice that I can give, read through the conversations in this chat. There is a lot of wonderful information provided. If you have a specific question someone will answer. I have asked a few and they have all been answered. Anything you want to know, really. There is a currency converter, transportation info, excursion link, photography chat, just get to know everyone chat, etc..  

I will also mention, just an FYI I was reading on the CDC web site they recommend a rabies and typhoid vaccine prior to visiting Mexico. We both work in the medical field and these were extra vaccines in addition to the normal ones most people have. So you may want to check out the CDC web site.  

Olivia picks you up from the airport in PV. You just have to send them your flight info. One little tip about packing... Pack one carry on bag with enough to get you through a couple of days.. that way if your bags get lost you are still good. It will save you a lot of stress.
