I think this will be a great trip to go solo.  That is what I am doing. I have seen numerous over 50's, going solo, and Olivia Virgins,  on these boards, .  In the past I have heard the solo's have the most fun!.  My 2 cents. Hope to see you onboard.  Sandy

Something I found helpful - the bathrooms don't have a lot of counter space. We bring a plastic hanging shoe bag and put it on the bathroom door. Then we stick our toiletries in the spots for the shoes- makes them easily acessible and not messy. Also, have dollars to tip the porters who will be bringing your bags to your rooms. The bags seem to get faster treatment. You will be standing outside in line for embarkation at high noon, so you may want a hat and sunscreen with you and maybe a bottle of water. (I'm from Minnesota and pale skin...) we have lanyards to put our room card on - you will use that card to get in your room and pay for anything on board like bingo or drinks. I've never had a problem paying with US dollars in ports, so don't bother converting money.

The best info I can give you is don't over pack. Get everything you THINK you'll need together. Then divide the pile in half, lol.

My girlfriend and I are really looking forward to experiencing a real since of community. Neither of us has ever been on a cruise and this will be our first "trip" together. Super excited! Our career choice doesn't exactly allow for such freedoms, and after the year we've had, its gonna be a long awaited get away.

That being said, any advice for two newbies is greatly appreciated; everything from recommend clothing options to what we can expect on a typical day on the ship to the excursions.

I've read a few posts and I imagine this won't be our last Olivia cruise :) See you all soon.

I'm considering my first cruise and the 40th anniversary cruise looks great! One problem, I'm flying solo. And I don't mean I' ll be flying down alone, I mean by myself. Can you tell me if these cruises are predominantly a couples vacation?

First time cruisers (at least on Olivia!) here. My partner has not ever cruised before, I cruised several years ago, but both of us are SO very excited about this one!

We are from Arkansas. Anyone else from this part of the country?

Happy Honeymoon, RhondaSquared!  I assume that means you are both Rhondas!  My wife and I are both Barbs, so we know how it is.  Anyway, enjoy the excitement; it's going to be a blast!  Olivia cruises are the best in every way and I'm really excited about the entertainment on this special cruise.
