Thank you!  Really good advice.  It's very unlikely we would be saving all of our receipts if you hadn't taken the time to respond.  We will be better prepared now.  Big thanks!

We also have a tip that we learned the "hard way".  When you purchase ANYTHING on the boat they will give you a receipt for what ever it is you bought KEEP THOSE RECEIPTS!!! When we went to settle our bill on the Ryndam last October they over charged us $160.00. By chance we saved the receipts and once we showed them to the guest services they reversed the charges, but they were double charging us for things we did purchase and charging us for things we didn't purchase. Make sure that the receipts have something written on them rather it be the item name or amount...ALSO, the "drink of the day" is always a cheaper price, make sure you keep those too because we found that they charged us full price for them.

Just by chance we were throwing our receipts in our ice bucket and they sat there all week! THANK GOODNESS!! Big Smile

I hear you Teresa and apparently they expect you to pay that before you get off the ship- damn them!  hehe.  You can really see the pros and cons with that plan ha?

Just a small heads up....its awesome that you can charge everything to the room but its very easy for it to become a large amount owed in 7 days lol.  Very easy.

Cruises are cash-free experiences. Everything is charged to your room. You leave a credit card deposit or a cah deposit to cover your charges onboard.

Thank you.  I guess we will have a better understanding (and love) for cruises after our first one.  We really appreciate all your help.

DrigFx is right. You will have a shipboard account to charge everything to. If they are like other cruiselines you will also be able to pay your balance off daily throughout the cruise. I find that at the end of the cruise to have a huge total at the end depresses me. So I take care of it nightly, this also helps if you like to budget your money a little more closely. Also, speaking to ncl already, I found that they want you to alot $100 per day of your cruise length for your shipboard account, so they would want $700 available to hold on your credit card, debit card or cash for any drinks or services you charge to your card.......BUT, i have been on cruiselines that say they require this at check in but once on board allowed you to load your onboard credit card with whatever amount you like, but that is all you'll be able to spend until you put more on the card. It may sound a little complex but believe me it takes the stress out of carrying money around the ship. Can you guys tell......I LOVE CRUISING ! And now that I have found Olivia.....Forgetta about it !!!! Paradise

Hola luvmydog!

You'll charge the drinks to your room (to which you'll have a credit card tied to your room) and pay that tab at the end.  The food is ...........INCLUDED so don't hurt yourself (as I tend to do).  This is my first time on NCL, but normally you can purchase a "drink card" ahead of time on the cruise lines website, which will be in your room on the first day.  There are other things you can purchase ahead of time.  I just recently perused their site, but didn't look for the drink card or coffee card.  If you'd like to visit the casino that's a whole other card you can purchase on the ship and add funds~~~~something like that!  I hope this helps.

It'll be FUN!  See you there.

First time cruisers here.  While on board, do we pay by cash or credit card for all food/drinks at the time of purchase or do we charge to our room and pay at the end?

Thank you!!!
