Knowledge is power but Acapuco is a whole different mindset than Zihuantanejo.  And moving in a group vs couples is also more of a deterent.

I was hoping to bicycle,also. Now I'm thinking not...When I think of it, when I look at international biking trips, mexico is never on the list...

Remember robberies and shooting happen in the US and Canada and just about everywhere…it’s nothing new!  I for one…feel far safer in Mexico than most times in the US!

Darn - I was going to ask about cycling - I read that there is some path somewhere, and I will look into it at the resort.  Maybe in a large group we would be less likely to be a target?  Anyone else interested?

A Quebec couple is recovering in hospital after being shot during a robbery attempt in Mexico.

The couple, who were staying in the Pacific resort town of Ixtapa north of Acapulco, were cycling outside the hotel zone Tuesday when armed men tried to rob them, police said.

The suspects opened fire when the Quebecers resisted, police said.

The 50-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, while a bullet grazed the face of his 45-year-old female companion.

Both were hospitalized and are in stable condition, but their names have not been released.

Mexican police do not have any suspects.

 

Dont want to scare anyone or rain our pararde but thought everyone has the right to know in order to keep yourselves safe.
