We'd be interested in this also.  These are a few of the ones I checked out.  I trust Frommers' recommendation, but I would also love to hear from someone has experienced this first hand.  I remember Sleddog saying she was going to check this excursion out for us.  I'm sure she'll be back posting next week.

Margaret & K.C,

Hey, has anyone ridden horses on the beach in Ixtapa?  Sounds fun!  Any details or suggestions?

We're getting excited for the Ixtapa trip, and have checked out Club Med's listing of typical excursions.  Here's the link.   http://www.clubmed.us/cm/resorts-north-america-mexico-ixtapa-pacific-excursions-our-excursions_p-115-l-US-v-IXTC-a-000024-d-000006-r-7-ac-vo.html

What I noticed was that there is no Zip-Line tour offered through Club Med.  I know on the last Ixtapa trip some of the ladies were talking about doing a Zip-Line tour on their own through this company.  http://www.toursinixtapazihuatanejo.com/zipline-canopy.html.  It costs about $50 per person to do this tour.  Anyone else interested in flying through the Mexican canopy, screaming their lungs out with the wife and I?

If any of you ladies who did this tour last year have any information about this tour, I'd love to hear it.

Eagerly anticipating Ixtapa!

Here’s what it says in the Ixtapa Resort Guide:

Booking excursions

A variety of exciting optional excursions are offered by the Club Med Excursion office. You will be able to sign up for excursions upon your arrival at the resort. Excursions include tours such as Zihuatanejo Shopping & Sightseeing, Dolphin Experience, Sunset Cruises and Zip Line. When you arrive at the resort, visit the Excursions Office to sign up. Forms will be accepted until midnight on arrival day. Excursions will be filled at random so all guests will have the same chance to get the excursion(s) of their choice, no matter what time they complete their forms. If you would like to be on a specific excursion with friends, be sure you staple your forms together and indicate your preferences. On Monday at 12 noon, names will be posted for each excursion. If there is a discrepancy and changes are needed, please see the Excursion Manager before 8 p.m., otherwise, your account will be charged and the cancellation policies will apply. If there are spaces left on any of the trips after this process, you will be able to sign up at the Excursions office. All excursions and ground transportation are provided by contractors that are independent of Club Med and Olivia. Therefore, as previously stated in our contract, Olivia and Club Med are not liable for any act, or failure to act, by any third party independent contractor. Please note that gratuities are always appreciated. If you feel that the guide and/or driver for your shore excursion did a good job, the recommended gratuity is $3 per person for a half-day tour and $5 for a full-day tour.

We have never had a problem getting excursions at resorts – or for that matter on ships!

From what I have heard, and ladies feel free to jump in, some of the excursions are limited, not all though....what happens is especially on the limited ones..........everyone books the same nite......I believe it is sunday....so there are alot of women meeting at the bar pen and paper in hand and making sure they book with the women they want to be with.....it doesnt matter what time you submit your requests on the first nite......it isnt first come first served........I believe its like a lottery so all is fair as to not penalize the late arrivers...........sleddog, Jess, do you veteran gals know the answer to this, I have done 3 resorts and it has been a long time...........most of my trips were the cruises..........I know things have changed.......but it is a good question akmedic........hope more answers come your way, but this is what I think!

SO i don't know if this has been asked or not.... but

is the excursions going to be like they were on the cruise.... only so many people can go? Or is it, each is going to be offered everyday so to speak so everyone can go? we dont get into Ixtapa untill 430 in the afternoon and then get there to find that everything is full.... it will bum me out so bad. I want so badly to go swimming with the dolphins, the zip line tour, and my parnter wants to do the sunset cruise and then maybe the shopping tour!

oh just thinking about all this make me so excited its hard to sit here at work....

We also did a zip line in Costa Rica.  There was a good bit of walking to get to the top, but the zip line itself requires no special skill; at one point they had us let go completely and just "zip".  Very fun, as long as you're not afraid of heights. Cost listed on a link from a previous post was $55, who knows if that's what they'll charge.

The Zip Line tours run about $50.00 per person.  Come on what do you have to loss.... this is a once in a lifetime adventure.  I think it would be great fun to get a large group together for this excursion.  We will all support each other and have a blast!

Oh, thanks for that. I too, thought I was too out of shape. I do have some limits to my shoulder - does that mean I'll crash into a tree. Next question: anyone know how much it costs?

When we did the canopy tour in Costa Rica there was no althletic ability needed.  My mom did it with us and she is about 100 lbs soaking wet (I take after my dad)  and was 60 years old at the time!  They strap you in pretty good, with a harness around both thighs and then you kind of sit on your bum in the harness..much like para-sailing.  They gave us some heavy gloves and then you controlled your speed with a hand over your head, on the line....pushing down with that hand to "BREAK"  Your other hand holds on to the line connecting you to the zip line.  we did not find it challenging physically, but let me tell you you should have a good set of lungs as there was some serious screaming going on!  LOL  Hope this is not to hard  to follow..

Does anyone know how physically fit you need to be to do the zip line??  I've been toying with the idea but I'll be the first to admit that I am NOT in shape and I wondered if there is alot of hiking or upper body strength required??  It would be mortifying to go "Splat" in an attempt to go "Zip"....

My partner (Azar) has done the one in Cancun and loved it!

She probably would be up to doing this one also.

I'll let her know I've volunteered her for this excursion!!!
