I believe if we expect others to be understanding and diverse in their understanding of our lifestyle, we need to in turn be ready to accept those same types of cultures and relationships within ourselves. We can not expect from other what we are not willing to offer. There is always more to learn and what is wrong with expanding one's horizon to somethign and better yet someone new.

I whole-heartedly believe we are allowed to love whom we please and if that love is found outside of our own race/religion/ethnicity or whatever God Bless the union. Life is hard and lonely enough without just being able to LOVE someone. If you find that special person, love them hard, honest, and fully. Let it go-

Re: The oreo cookine thing

I think we should just let people love whoever they want to love. Its easier to deal with people we relate to, of course, but if you love someone then you try to work through the differences. You learn and teach-therefore expanding your horizons. That is the interesting part of relationships.

Its not just interracial-my partner is a little more than 10 yrs older than me. She has taught me a lot about crap I had no interst in and I have opened her eyes to things she never cared about before. We had very few interests in common but we have grown together. Now its easier.

I have had this question asked so many times by tons of people my current girlfriend (Gorgeous mixed woman) included, as well as my crazy friends who just don't understand. I was in a relationship with a white woman for about 4 years give or take a few months. I learned a lot about the "other side" which was nice. But when I look back on it our family life styles and how we were raised were totally different and at some points we couldn't relate to each other. Also food preference was a little different which I never got use to. I think it does feel a lot different dating a woman of color vs a white woman. Being able to relate more to the person helps out a great deal in a lot of situations. But I would suggest that people stay open minded it is a great learning experience.

The oreo cookine thing

Hi All,

I am soooo happy to be going this trip, i won it so I am really happy, but that is not what this post is about. I wanted to ask women of color how they feel when they see other women of color with white women. I ask in part because i spent 8 years in a relationship with a white women and so did my now current girlfirend and we both have talked about it and how different it feels to be with a "sistah" I just wondered if anyone else had the same of any thoughts about it at all?

Thanks for your thoughts,

Cocobella
