There are some small fall runs late September but the big ones are usually later in the fall and winter, for instance Squamish, north of Vancouver where 3-5 thousand eagles gather to gorge on salmon along with grizzly and black bears. Near Victoria, the Goldstream run is usually late October.

http://www.coastalrevelations.com/salmon_stream_tours/index.htm

http://rainforestnaturehikes.com/?p=1513

The Englishman River and Stamp River are not far north Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. There is a ferry from Vancouver to Nanaimo but you would probably have to rent a car.

Best enquire. Hope this helps,

Susan, in Victoria, on Vancouver Island.

Bears and the Salmon run

Hi,

Does anyone know where (if) it's possible to watch bears feeding on the salmon run after the cruise?

If it is possible I assume the closest would be Vancouver island. Looking for a 2/3 day trip if possible.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
