Hi Tahitian girl

We have a really strange question that we are trying to get answered. Hope you can help.

My partner drinks Coke Zero or Pepsi Max or Diet Coke - how easy is this to buy in Tahiti? And how much approx is it?

I on the other hand drink Red Bull - again how easy is this to buy in Tahiti? And do I need to up our credit card limit to afford them?

Hello Yes I live with my partner in papeete.

As for the taxis, some are allowed on the pier but still not all of them... so you'll definitely need to get one from the taxi line not far away near the vaima centre :) at least they have their fare written on a huge wooden board so no overpricing possible :)

Hello, there are taxis at the airport that can take you there... I'll find out what the real price are so you won't pay more than needed. The best is to rent a car and share the bill :) . Public bus are not reliable and it might be difficult with your luggage. As for the meridian, stick to the swimming pool, if it's raining as the quality of the sea water at the beach there isn't good when it's raining. They have a nice swimming pool. If you have a rental car, you can get anywhere you want. Go to the city papeete and buy handcrafted souvenirs.. (be careful, some are made in thailand and china! always ask first! but you'll see the difference) or black pearls, the best thing is to buy them from a jeweler and ask for a certificate... at the market place they are cheap but not worth much. A nice Black pearl of about 9mm is priced about 50$. At the city center I recommend one jeweler, VAIMA PEARL. The lady that owns it is gay and is one of the most recognized jeweler and black pearl seller in Papeete. Another Gay owned jewelry and black pearl reseller is Rereata, if you fly Air tahiti nui to tahiti, you should find some of their creations sold on duty free onboard. On tahiti, you can go to the golf in Papara or go to the black pearl museum, go around the island and eat some lobster in Taravao at a restaurant named TEHAAMATAI. or also take a one day safari tour to the see the centre of the island and the Relais de la Maroto: there'll be waterfalls and swimming in the river :). You can also take the ferry to Moorea and spend a day over there, they have a nice white sand beach in Temae... (Tahiti mostly has black sand beaches, the only exceptions is the meridian if the water is ok, and PK 18 in punaauia or in Tahiti iti at maui beach. I also recommend a stop in Arue at James Norman Hall museum where you'll learn more about one of the writer of Mutiny on the bounty, the book that was later turned into the movie with Marlon Brando. If you want also you can go on Marlon Brando island Tetiaroa, a very nice atoll not too far away from tahiti about a 2h sail, the boats depart from the port of papeete around 6 in the morning and you get break fast on the way out and then get on tetiaroa where you can visit the island and when you come back onboard you'll have lunch before the way back to tahiti. :) those are the activities that come to my mind right there but if you have specific interests i might be able to give you more advice !

Hello, if you're not afraid of driving with a stick shift, then it's better to rent a car and go on your own, the island has only one road around so you can't get lost, Only in Papeete will you find small streets, but on every rental car, you'll have an orange sticker, and locals know that and are usually more patient with tourists :)... I'm in Paris for a week, but if you want I can find out about day tours and taxi fares when I go home. Forget about the public buses... no real stops nor any schedule fixed... :)

Kea, lucky you, living in paradise. Where do you live? In Papeete?

We are really looking forwarding to being there again...third time so I guess we really like it!

I second Jadesmom's comment, it would be nice to meet you.

One quick question: When we cruised there before, on our return to Papeete we couldn't get a taxi on the docks, had to walk to the street to get transportation. Do you know if that is still the case or are taxis allowed on the docks?

I'm arriving on 22 Sept at 5 AM and am looking for something to do until it's time to board the ship. I found a day tour (Pepeete inner Island Full Day tour) but read mixed reviews so if you have any suggestions or can recommend a day tour operator I can look into it would be appreciated..
