So, my ticket has been booked and confirmed for awhile now but i still haven't done my hotel room yet. Just want to get a decent, cheap place near the port, but i have a question. When are we supposed to go to the port to get on the ship,?? because if it's not till later in the afternoon and check out times are usually around 11 or noon, i don't want to schlep my luggage everywhere. I know i always wait till last minute on everything. but hey it always works out in the end. thanks for any advice. and yes i'm extremely excited for this trip i mark the days on my calendar!

 I havent been anywhere -- let alone a cruise! I am excited for the trip and glad we booked our airfare through Air Canada and lucked out to reserve the Harbour Beach Hotel before the price increased-- I think that is unfair as the hotel is under construction during that time anyway. I think we who booked the hotel at the "Olivia" special get to sleep next to hammers! ha!
I am so excited and hope to start getting slimmer by the date. I keep checking the site for updates on performers or excursions but I guess we are still too early :sigh:

The wife and I are excited about the trip. I keep lurking around looking for some action on this board, too. Maybe you and I will get it going :)

We were on the Westerdam in March. We love the ship and can't wait to get back out there. Really loved our Half Moon Cay day on our last Olivia cruise! The Grand Turk stop will be a first for us and I am researching shore excursions for that day. Have you been to Grand Turk?

The host hotel, Marriott Harbor Beach is fully booked for the Olivia price.  "Best" price available is now $359 per night.  Yikes! Does anyone familiar with the area have any other suggestions for those of us who were slow on the hotel reservations?

Great, I have United when flying out, hum, guess I had better check to see what will happen on the return end.   So much for buying our tickets early, lol. 

Thanks for the post gals, have been so busy at work, just coming home and doing the hum drum and hitting the hay.   All the yard work is done, well kinda, and the house is gettting in order just in time for my Mom and sister to come for a visit.  Will be fun having them here for the 4th, do a cookout and then that weekend go down to the waterfront for Tall Ships.  Big event here that brings in the big sailing ships from all over for a big to do up here.   Lots of fun!!

So how is everyone making it through the heat waves?  It has been getting hotter and hotter up here, whew!  The nights cool down by 20 degrees, and it feels so good.  If it is going to be hot, I need to be by a pool with a cold one!  lol.

Ok, best be off and hitting the hay, long drive tomorrow and up at 4am.

We had flights with United that we purchased in November. We got the notification Friday and were told they were going to let us know what they were going to do tomorrow. Kind of shabby if you ask me. We're not sure how we're getting down there now. :-(

United just announced it's dropping Ft Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.  Miami will be their only south florida gate.

Here's a heads up to all who are traveling out of smaller airports.  Yesterday it was announced that American and Delta Airlines were puling out of our local airport (San Luis Obispo) this fall due to high fuel costs.  I spoke to an agent at American Airlines and this may be a common problem coming up all across the country in the near future.  Everybody, just keep yourselves informed about the status of your flights and your airlines of choice--be prepared to make a change in your itinerary if needed.  We WILL be seeing you in November!

Hi Inde, and all of the other travelers on the 35th bash cruise.  Brenda & Ruthie, here, and we just booked the trip for November.  We really are looking forward to seeing you again.  We can't wait to get on that boat!!!  We loved our last cruise with Olivia on the Holland America Line, and we have loved our other Olivia vacations as well.  We will look into going a couple of days early, I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, and haven't been there for some time.  We'll be in touch, at work, gotta go.

Hey Inde, I'm too lazy to read all the prior posts...so could you re-cap for me? 

When is the Meet and Greet and gift swap scheduled?  At the host hotel before the cruise or on the cruise itself?

Anything else you think I ought to know?   Looking forward to meeting all the newbies and reconnecting with others I have traveled with before.
